Auburn softball announces restart time for matchup vs. Kentucky
After a nearly two-hour weather delay, Auburn and Kentucky are ready to resume their softball matchup. The Tigers announced via X that the game is set to resume at 7:45 p.m. CT on Saturday.
Auburn held a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when play was stopped. The teams retook the field 30 minutes later only for there to be another delay. The Tigers will resume play with two outs and runners on first and second base.
It’s been quite the day for the Auburn and Kentucky softball teams as the game was originally scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. CT. However, the start was delayed more than one hour. Just when the teams appeared to be in the clear, another lengthy delay occurred.
Now we’re nearly five hours past when the game was supposed to begin with nearly half of the contest still to be played. Hopefully the weather has passed and the teams can finish this one out without any further delay.
Auburn had just started to get going in the third inning, where it scored both of its runs prior to the delay. The Tigers used a throwing error to bring in Annabelle Widra for their first run of the game. KK McCrary then drove in Rose Roach with a sacrifice fly.
Somehow, the Tigers have still yet to record a hit on the afternoon. They’ve been helped by a number of miscues from Kentucky, including two errors and five walks.

Kentucky comes back to win following weather delay
The Wildcats went on to take the lead in the fifth inning following a three-run homer from Peyton Plotts. Kentucky went on to add two more runs with another homer from Ebbs to increase its lead to 5-2.
That would ultimately be the score the Wildcats won by as Auburn was held scoreless over the final four innings.
Although Stephanie Shoonover started the day at pitcher, it would ultimately be Jaden Vickers who finished things out and earned the win. She pitched the final 3.1 innings to strike out four batters and allow only one hit.
Kentucky improved to 28-15 (6-10 SEC) with the win and took a 1-0 lead in the series against Auburn with Saturday’s victory. The two teams will next face each other at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday and then again on Monday to close out the series.
