This is what you call a half! Liberty star Breanna Stewart dominated early against the Sparks in WNBA record-breaking fashion.

In Saturday’s opening half, she scored 24 points, with five assists, five blocks and three steals.

Stewart became the first player in WNBA history to score at least 20 points, with five assists and five blocks in a half. Your turn, rest of WNBA.

The league shared a montage of her first-half highlights. Stewart scored from inside and out, going eight of 10. Specifically, she nailed three of her five three-point attempts.

By the end of the game, Stewart posted a nice stat line. She scored 33 points, with seven assists and six blocks. The best stat of all? Her Liberty team won 98-88. New York now has won 10 of its last 11 games, including another victory over the Sparks on Thursday.

Her best quarter Saturday afternoon was the second. She scored 19 points that period, matching the Sparks team total. She helped erase what had been an LA advantage at 31-23 to give the Liberty the 54-44 lead at half. Breanna Stewart’s second quarter was so dominant that she either scored or had an assist on 29 of the Liberty’s 33 points.

The Liberty extended the lead to 20 points in the third quarter. She picked up her sixth block, matching her career high, in the second half. The crowd roared with approval when she chased down Stephanie Talbot and swatted away her shot.

“Just not giving up on the play,” Stewart told reporters. “Whatever happened on the offensive end, we want to make every basket difficult for them.”

Breanna Stewart, the reigning WNBA MVP, also is preparing for her third Olympics. She recently talked about how she’s trying to help her fellow teammates.

“Aside from [Diana Taurasi], I have probably the most experience on the team,” she told Olympics.com. “I’m making sure that I continue to talk to the young ones and that this team is confident even though it’s different than rosters that we’ve had before, and that we continue to know that we have the largest target ever on our back. Not only are we trying to continually win gold, but do it for the teams that have come before us.”
