After Tuesday night’s debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, Taylor Swift took to social media to endorse Harris in the 2024 election. The post quickly went viral, and multiple big names liked it.

Caitlin Clark was one of them. Wednesday night, ahead of the Indiana Fever’s game against the Las Vegas Aces, she explained why she liked the post.

Clark pointed out the parallels between her platform on social media and Swift’s. They’re two of the highest-profile people in the world, and the former Iowa star said she wants to use it to help spread the word about registering to vote.

“I think for myself is, I have this amazing platform,” Clark said. “So I think the biggest thing would be just to encourage people to register to vote. I think for myself, this is the second time I can vote for an election at age 22 – I could vote when I was 18.

“I think [to] do that, that’s the biggest thing I can do with the platform that I have, and that’s the same thing Taylor did. And I think continue to educate yourself with the candidates that we have, the policies that they’re supporting. I think that’s the biggest thing you can do and that’s what I would recommend to every single person that has that opportunity in our country.”

Clark built a strong social media following during her time at Iowa, and that’s continued into the WNBA. As of Wednesday night, she had more than 455,000 followers on X, which is nearly double her total when she headed to the professional level in April. She also has 2.9 million Instagram followers – a 1.3-million increase from the end of her college career.

The increased attention comes as Caitlin Clark cements herself as a frontrunner for WNBA Rookie of the Year. She became the first rookie in league history to ever record a double-double, and she added another one last week. Entering Wednesday’s game against the Aces, Clark was averaging 19.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 8.5 assists, along with 1.3 steals on the defensive end.

Clark’s emergence helped fuel the Fever and lead the franchise back to the postseason. It will mark their first appearance in the playoffs since 2016, but Clark pointed out a teammate who deserved to finally take the big stage.

“I’m just really happy for this organization,” Clark said. “Obviously, longest drought in WNBA history of not making it to the playoffs. Happy – I mean, look at these fans. They’re incredible. If it wasn’t for them, I don’t know if we’d be here.

“And I’m just really happy for Kelsey Mitchell, too. She’s been with this organization for seven years. Really, they’ve honestly struggled, and she’s had probably the best year of her career. Has played really, really good basketball. So I’m just really happy for her. She deserves this just about more [than] anybody. I’m happy for her.”
