Los Angeles Sparks rookie Cameron Brink had to be carried off the court after suffering an apparent knee injury on Tuesday vs. the Connecticut Sun. Brink was driving to the basket in the first quarter when she lost her balance and fell awkwardly as Sun forward Brionna Jones stepped on her foot.

She was seen grimacing in pain before getting up and hobbling back toward the bench. She was ultimately unable to make it off the court on her own as trainers took her back to the locker room for further evaluation. You can view the moment below.

It’s unclear exactly when Brink was injured on the play, whether it occurred on her initial fall to the ground as her knee appeared to buckle or when Jones stepped on her foot. Either way, it was clear she was in a lot of pain.

Sideline reporter Terrika Foster-Brasby provided an update on the broadcast moments after the injury.

“I did go in the back to see if I could get an official update and as of now there is no official word on Brink on whether or not she’ll be returning to this game. However, we did see (the team) bringing some bags of ice toward the Sparks’ locker room. So no secret there considering she is also playing on the 3-on-3 (Olympic) team. But as of now, no official word yet on Brink.”

ESPN tweeted before the second half that Brink would not return to the game. However, there was no word as to whether the injury will keep her out beyond Tuesday evening.

It’s an unfortunate blow for Brink, who was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She had so far been off to a solid start to her rookie campaign with averages of 8.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game. Now the hope is that whatever news comes next is positive and this won’t keep her sidelined for a significant period of time.

Brink had played only four minutes in the game before exiting. The Sparks trailed 39-28 at halftime as they used Li Yueru off the bench to fill in for the injured star. Connecticut currently holds and 63-48 advantage heading into the fourth quarter as LA will need a big run to come back from this one.
