Saturday evening, Team USA women’s basketball faced off against the WNBA All-Stars during the league’s All-Star weekend. That contest brought together the fan bases of Indiana Fever rookie guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky rookie forward Angel Reese.

Social media has been buzzing about the two players, as they are tied together in numerous ways, including currently being the top two rookie candidates for WNBA Rookie of the Year. However, the All-Star game possibly brought an opportunity for both fan bases to lay down their arms and lock it together.

Seeing that opportunity, the Chicago Sky took to social media to hilariously offer the first olive branch to the Indiana Fever, which can be seen below.

The request for a truce came attached to a video of Clark dropping a clean dime to Reese that helped the WNBA All-Stars expand their fourth-quarter league.

Whether or not the truce will be well received remains to be seen. But at least fans of both rookies and the WNBA got a glimpse of what it would be like with the duo teaming together.

The WNBA All-Stars defeated Team USA 117-109, with both rookies contributing significantly to the victory. Reese became the first rookie since 1999 to record a double-double in the game with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Clark set a new rookie record for assists, finishing the contest with nine. But in terms of MVP honors, the two rookies will have to wait for another year as Dallas Wings superstar guard Arike Ogunbowale put on an impressive show to leave the WNBA All-Stars to victory, capturing her second All-Star MVP.

Ogunbowale sets WNBA All-Star Game record with 34 points

Ogunbowale put on a show in the second half of the WNBA All-Star game as she set a single-game scoring record for the event. And she did all of her scoring — 34 points worth — in the second half.

For her efforts, Ogunbowale was named All-Star Game MVP, her second time winning the honor. She becomes the fourth player in WNBA history to win that honor twice, joining Lisa LeslieSwin Cash and Maya Moore as the only multi-time winners.

And after a scoreless first half, Ogunbowale got a simple message from head coach Cheryl Miller at half.

“Coach told me take a deep breath and go out there and play my game and that’s what I did,” Ogunbowale told ESPN’s Holly Rowe.

The performance is also one that Ogunbowale hopes can be a bit of a boost down the stretch, and a reminder of all that she can do on the court at her best.
