Highly recruited Class of 2025 prospect Daria Biriuk has committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes, she told On3.

“I know a couple of other international students that played there too,” Biriuk told On3. “I talked to the coaches from Ohio State and they all just have such great energy.”

Biriuk, a 6-foot-1 shooting guard originally from Ukraine, recently took her official visit to Columbus and knew it was the perfect spot for her.

“It was a great visit,” Biriuk told On3. “It was a huge football game. It was so big and the people just were so genuine – the coaches and girls, and we just had so much fun on the visit. I just enjoyed the people around me. It’s a great fit for me. I watched them practice and I was sure that I could play on this team, and I can be a great addition to this team.”

Biriuk chose the Buckeyes over Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. She loved Ohio State’s style of play and the relationships she’s formed with the coaching staff. Head coach Kevin McGuff’s kids used to go to the same high school Biriuk is attending, so there was also an instant connection there.

“I love the style. It’s sharing the ball. It’s just the style I would love to play in college. I was just sure that it was a great school. It’s a great opportunity for me to play in college and on this great team.”

Biriuk previously told On3 that deciding on a landing spot was the hardest decision she’s ever had to make – and now that she’s decided, she can’t believe it herself.

“I just still can’t believe that I’ve committed,” Biriuk said. “I just feel like I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long, and now I committed. I’m just excited to play and everybody is going to know where I’m going, so it’s just exciting.”
