Angel Reese is off to a record-breaking start in her WNBA career. The former LSU star enters Saturday’s game against the New York Liberty with 15 straight double-doubles.

Reese is averaging 13.8 points and 11.8 rebounds per game for the Chicago Sky, and her 15 straight double-doubles are a WNBA record.

ESPN’s Andraya Carter spoke on SportsCenter Saturday morning about the incredible run by Angel Reese to start her WNBA career and what has led to her success.

“Well, first of all, just the fact that Angel Reese has brought this same energy and consistency and relentlessness when it comes to rebounding,” Carter said. “We saw it throughout her college career. The fact that she brings that and she hangs her hat on that.”

Candace Parker previously held the record for the most consecutive double-doubles in WNBA history with 12.

Reese, who was drafted with the No. 7 overall pick in the WNBA Draft, is in the running to win the Rookie of the Year award. She is squarely in the mix with Indiana Fever rookie star Caitlin Clark.

Carter is blown away by the way Reese is playing and her ability to corral tough rebounds.

“To have success in the WNBA is remarkable. But what really stands out to me is when you look at her rebounds, she is getting just under 5 offensive rebounds a game,” Carter said. “I was looking at some WNBA stats, the last time anyone averaged 4 offensive rebounds per game was in 2014… 10 years ago. Her offensive rebounding, her energy on that side. It’s a skill. It’s timing. It’s angles. And she’s been able to do that as a rookie in the WNBA. It’s remarkable.”

Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark were both recently named all-stars. The two have had some tough battles on the court in both college and the WNBA, but now they will get to play together on the same team in the all-star game.

“It’s gonna be really cool,” Reese said of playing with Clark. “I mean, I know so many fans are gonna come out to watch both of us. But a lot of people are just gonna be able to come to Phoenix. I’m sure it’s already sold out, so being able to be in that environment. We’re gonna be playing together for a while, so this is not going to be the last time.

“I know we’ll be All-Stars again. Hopefully, [in] 2028, we will be Olympians together, too. So, [just] being able to enjoy this. I’m going to Paris too to go watch the Olympics, so I’m excited for that too.”
