The transfer portal was a beast last offseason in women’s college basketball. Several high-level players sought out new programs, and plenty of them have already made a significant impact. On3 looks at five impact players who transferred into the SEC, with no more than one player listed from each program.

Raegan Beers – Oregon State to Oklahoma

Raegan Beers cemented herself as one of the best post players in the country last season with Oregon State. She helped them reach the Elite Eight and was a significant part of the Beavers’ success. With Oregon State’s conference realignment, Beers transferred to Oklahoma

Last year, she averaged 17.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.3 blocks. This season with the Sooners, she’s averaging 17.9 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks.

Samara Spencer – Arkansas to Tennessee

Samara Spencer knows the SEC well, having played for Arkansas the last three seasons. This offseason, Spencer transferred to Tennessee. New head coach Kim Caldwell utilized the portal well, but Spencer may have been her greatest addition.

Last season, Spencer averaged 13.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists while shooting 26% from deep. This year, Spencer is averaging 12.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists and shooting 48% from the perimeter.

Clara Strack – Virginia Tech to Kentucky

Clara Strack followed coach Kenny Brooks from Virginia Tech to Kentucky this season – and her game has exploded. The 6-foot-5 sophomore is the team’s second leading scorer, behind Georgia Amoore, and has been one of the biggest surprises of the year.

Last season, she averaged 4.5 points and 4.1 rebounds as a freshman. This year, she’s averaging 16.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.4 blocks.

DeYona Gaston – Texas to Auburn

DeYona Gaston spent four seasons with the Texas Longhorns before deciding to transfer this offseason for her final year. As the Longhorns entered the SEC, Gaston transferred into the conference herself, joining Auburn

Last season, Gaston averaged 8.4 points and 4.2 rebounds. This season, she’s posting career-highs in nearly every category. Gaston is averaging 22.7 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.8 blocks.

Zaay Green – Arkansas Pine-Bluff to Alabama

Zaay Green transferred into her fourth school this offseason after a long college career. She spent two years with Tennessee, one with Texas A&M and three with Arkansas Pine-Bluff. While she’d proven to be a solid piece at high-majors, it’s always hard to know how a transfer will adjust with a leap in levels.

Green has excelled since joining Alabama this season. Last year with UAPB, she averaged 16.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 2.2 steals. That stat line couldn’t be replicated in the SEC, but Green is averaging 15.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.6 steals.
