Highly-recruited 2025 prospect Nina Cain commits to Washington
Top 2025 recruit Nina Cain has committed to the Washington Huskies, she announced on Monday morning.
“I already had a really, really great sense about Washington before I had stepped onto campus, but I think once I did, it just really sealed the deal for me,” Cain told On3. “Getting to speak with the coaches and staff and really seeing how they are — just being around them, the aura they give off was just very right to me. When I felt that, it was felt by my family too. The culture was everything for me. That was one of the biggest check boxes I had on my on my list and everything else — academics and their athletic program was on standpoint.”
Nina Cain, a 6-foot-1 wing from Sacramento (California) C. K. McClatchy High School describes herself as a versatile player who can help her team in various ways. Cain was also named the Bee’s Girls Basketball Player of the Year, an award that goes to a student-athlete who best exemplifies effort, sportsmanship and results.
“I’m very versatile,” Nina Cain said. “I can be placed inside or outside on the offensive end. I have a high motor on offense and defense and I love being a playmaker.”
Cain chose the Huskies over Cal, Arizona, and Northwestern. She officially visited Washington on Aug. 9 and canceled the remainder of her scheduled visits.

“The coaches are really cool,” Cain told On3 in a previous interview. “I really, really like them. I also like their style of play. I’ve talked with the head coach about how the program runs and I was really in love with their style of play. They have a really intellectual coach as well – when she speaks and how she broke things down, I liked it.”
Cain is Washington’s second 2025 commit. No. 16-ranked Brynn McGaughy, a 6-foot-2 wing from Colfax (Washington) High School committed to the Huskies in May.
“I knew I’d fit in really well,” Cain said. “Being a versatile player, I can be utilized in so many ways. They run up the court very well and they get it to everyone well. They’re very big on playmaking and that’s one of my biggest attributes as a player.”
