Iowa State lands commitment from 2025 point guard Reese Beaty
Highly recruited class of 2025 prospect Reese Beaty has committed to Iowa State, she told On3. The 5-foot-8 point guard from Jamestown (Tennessee) York Institute originally committed to Clemson, but she reopened her recruitment after a coaching change.
Reese Beaty’s finalists included Mississippi State, Penn State, Middle Tennessee, Michigan and West Virginia. But after her lone visit with the Cyclones, she knew it was home.
“I kept thinking of going on other visits, but then I would circle back around, and [Iowa State] was just perfect for me,” Reese Beaty told On3. “I can easily see myself being there and doing well.”
Beaty received several high-major offers since reopening her recruitment and had plenty of eyes on her this summer as she played with Kentucky Premier on the Nike EYBL circuit. She averaged 13.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and five assists in the final live period of the summer at Nike Nationals.
“I would describe my game as smart and effective,” Beaty said. “I’m not the quickest player, but I use my body and that ball moves a lot faster than anybody on the court does. I probably just want to work on my quickness and explosiveness.

Beaty valued many factors when making her decision on a landing spot, but the people were the most important when it came to the end.
“They’re just down-to-earth people,” Beaty said. “They’re going to tell you straight-up – they’re genuine and they’re very caring. It’s not just a coach, it’s family.”
Beaty noted that she’s excited to get on campus next year and experience the big-time crowds in Ames. She’s also itching to play with elite post-player Audi Crooks.
“They just play together,” Beaty said. “They shoot a lot, they make a lot and they play the right way. It’s very team-oriented.”
