Jezelle "GG" Banks already attracting top programs as a sophomore-to-be
ATLANTA – Jezelle “GG” Banks was named the Delaware girls basketball Player of the Year as a freshman. She plays for the 17U division of Team Durant on the Nike EYBL Circuit and has averaged 15.4 points and 4.2 assists per game through April and May – and she’s only 15 years old.
“I appreciate all the coaches that are reaching out,” Banks told On3. “I’m blessed. Some people don’t have the opportunity to get these offers at such a young age, so it’s just an honor.”
The 5-foot-9 point guard from Ursuline Academy holds offers from schools like Texas, Marquette, Louisville, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Maryland and Ohio State. Banks said she is looking for a coach who she can form a strong relationship with and a school that allows her to play to her abilities.
“I need a coach that will teach me and who I can build a relationship with, for sure,” Banks said. “I’m looking for a school that will let me fit in right away,” Banks said. “I want to feel comfortable. That’s who I am – I just want to play my game.”
So far, the sophomore-to-be told On3 that she has taken visits to Texas, Maryland and Penn State but plans to take more. She also noted that NIL is an aspect she’ll consider during her recruitment process.

Jezelle Banks knows she can improve game
With three years left in her high school career, Jezelle Banks also noted a few aspects of her game she wants to improve upon prior to college.
“My options without the ball,” Banks noted as an area she wants to improve. “When the ball isn’t in my hands, what can I do? Just how I can help my teammates better.”
GG Banks garnered national attention as a freshman and is one of nine captains in the new high school league Overtime Select, where she’ll face off against some of the best recruits in the country this August.
