Lauren Jacobs

Lauren Jacobs, a top recruit in the Class of 2025, has committed to Ole Miss. The 5-foot-9 point guard out of Columbia (SC) Heathwood Hall Episcopal School chose the Rebels over Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Marquette, Mississippi State, Penn State, South Carolina and Virginia Tech

She took an unofficial visit to Ole Miss last October and an official visit last weekend.

“Coach Yo [Yolett McPhee-McCuin] was the first Power Five program to offer me,” Jacobs told On3. “I just have been building my relationship with her ever since then – over two years. The vision that she has for her program and what she has done for Ole Miss ever since she’s been there really stood out to me. When I went on my official visit, meeting all the people at Ole Miss – it’s just great people there.”

Last season, Jacobs was one of the highest- scoring players in South Carolina. Jacobs averaged 31.5 points, 7 rebounds, 4.2 steals and 2.1 assists, leading her high school to its second-straight SCISA Class 4A championship. She’s also nearing 2,000 career points (1,676).

“Jacobs is a high-level point guard that can score at all three levels,” one coach involved in her recruitment told On3. “She’s super competitive, can shoot the ball at a high level and is a true leader.”

Jacobs loves the Rebels’ style of play and sees herself fitting in well.

“Coming in as a point guard, I feel like how fast they play in transition really fits my game,” Jacobs said. “Just the aggressiveness – I feel like I’m a dog when I play, and that’s how her team always plays… I feel like coming in there, she can teach me a lot of great things and just get me to a really high level with basketball.”
