Livvy Dunne, Flau'jae Johnson stress importance of 'priorities' when navigating NIL space
As the NIL era goes through its fourth year, LSU remains at the center of it. The Tigers have had some of the most notable names in college sports on campus – with Livvy Dunne and Flau’jae Johnson helping lead the charge.
Dunne and Johnson are two athletes featured in The Money Game, a six-part documentary series from Amazon Prime. Not only do they both have national championship rings from their time at LSU, but they also have capitalized on their name, image and likeness during their respective careers.
Johnson played a key role in LSU women’s basketball’s national championship run as a freshman in 2023, alongside Angel Reese. That success led to plenty of NIL opportunities, and her star has continued to rise ever since. But because she shined on the court, it led to off-court ventures, which is why her advice would be to keep their focus on winning.
“This is what I always tell people. They think like, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re getting all these NIL deals. You’re getting all this money.’ But if I wasn’t doing somewhat good on the court, that wouldn’t be a thing,” Johnson said on SiriusXM College. “At the end of the day, they still want to sponsor me because I’m a good athlete and we win.

“So I think you have to win in order to get the best deals. We won the national championship, best deals of my life because we had so much exposure. I think you have to keep the main thing the main thing. You focus on that, and then everything else just seems to fall in line.”
Johnson currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $1.3 million, which sits second in the women’s basketball NIL rankings behind Paige Bueckers. She has NIL deals with JBL and Apple Cash, and also kickstarted her rap career with her first EP earlier this year.

Livvy Dunne: LSU, NIL is ‘a match made in heaven’
Livvy Dunne enters her fifth year at LSU with an On3 NIL Valuation of $4 million and 13.6 million social media followers. Her NIL Valuation sits just behind Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the On3 NIL 100 – the first of its kind and defacto NIL ranking of the top 100 high school and college athletes ranked by their On3 NIL Valuation.
Dunne was a crucial part of LSU’s gymnastics national championship last year, and she opted to run it back for one more season. Her NIL portfolio is impressive, including deals with Passes, Nautica, Motorola and SI Swimsuit among others.
During her time at LSU, Dunne watched as the school embraced the NIL era. But she also understands the importance of succeeding on the mat, as well.
“I think that you have to have your priorities straight to be successful,” she said. “I think that LSU is a worldwide-known brand, and I just think that it’s a match made in heaven with LSU and NIL.”
