We’re nine weeks in to the 2024-25 women’s college basketball season and a lot has changed. Here’s On3’s updated top 25 following the ninth week of competition.

1. UCLA

UCLA had a big week, taking down a fringe Top 25 Big Ten squad in Michigan and beating Indiana at Assembly Hall. The Bruins couldn’t stop Syla Swords, who scored 30 points, but they won both games without much of a sweat and remained undefeated.

2. South Carolina

South Carolina notched their first two conference victories on the road at Missouri and Mississippi State this week. Tessa Johnson scored 22 off the bench at Mississippi State and the Gamecocks won handily.

3. Notre Dame

Notre Dame continues to stack resume wins, this time with a road victory at North Carolina. Though the Tar Heels fought their way back into the game, the Irish finished with a 10-point win.

4. Texas

Texas had a major week as they earned their first ranked win of the season at Oklahoma. It was a tight result, but the Longhorns took the top 10 victory. Freshman Jordan Lee scored 17 points and was 4-of-5 from long range.

5. USC

USC clobbered Nebraska at home and Rutgers (minus Kiyomi McMiller) on the road this week. They improved to 14-1 on the season, but face No. 6 Maryland next Wednesday.

6. TCU

TCU notched two home wins over Colorado and Cincinnati this week. Although it wasn’t their best performance against the Buffaloes, they got the win and bounced back with a 15-point result against Cincinnati.

7. Maryland

Maryland notched a really solid resume win at Iowa this Sunday. Although Iowa fought back, Kaylene Smikle was unstoppable with 26 points, five rebounds and six steals.

8. LSU

LSU improved to 17-0 this week following a blowout at Arkansas and a 10-point victory over an injured Auburn team at home. Aneesah Morrow posted her seventh consecutive double-double and LSU will travel to Tennessee next week.

9. UConn

UConn notched road wins over two Big East competitors – Villanova and Marquette. While neither team nears Top 25 status, both wins were by more than 30 points. Paige Bueckers suffered an injury in UConn’s game at Villanova and no update has been released on her status going forward.

10. Oklahoma

Oklahoma’s week evened out after a ranked home loss and a ranked road win. They suffered a 7-point falter to No. 4 Texas at home, but eked out a win at No. 15 Tennessee a few days later. Turnovers proved costly on Sunday, but the Sooners held on for their first ranked victory of the year.

11. Duke

Duke had a fairly calm week with wins over Boston College and Pittsburgh. Both victories were 25-plus point routs.

12. Kansas State

Kansas State earned wins over Houston and Texas Tech this week and is now 15-1 this season. Serena Sundell averaged 12 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists over the pair of games.

13. Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech had just one game this week – a 17-point win over Syracuse at home. The Yellowjackets are one of 5 remaining undefeated teams and will face Virginia Tech on Thursday.

14. Ohio State

Ohio State also remains undefeated with a 30-point victory over Northwestern. Freshman of the Year candidate Jaloni Cambridge scored 20 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out three assists.

15. Tennessee

Tennessee suffered a one-point loss to Oklahoma at home – their first falter of the season. But the Lady Vols made big plays and nearly bested the Top 10 Sooners. They’ll have an even bigger test next Thursday against LSU.

16. Kentucky

Kentucky notched two solid wins this week. They took down two fringe Top 25 teams in Mississippi State and Vanderbilt, scoring more than 90 points in each and winning by 18 points or more. They won’t face another ranked team until the end of the month, when the Wildcats host Alabama

17. North Carolina

North Carolina nearly came back in the second half, but ultimately fell 76-66 against No. 3 Notre Dame at home. This isn’t a loss that was unexpected or detrimental for the Tar Heels.

18. Michigan State

Michigan State had a calm week, hosting Purdue and winning by nearly 20 points. Jocelyn Tate had 19 points, 11 rebounds and three steals, while shooting 3-of-6 from deep.

19. NC State

NC State had a quiet week, taking down Boston College at home in a 39-point result. It was the Wolpack’s seventh consecutive win and Saniya Rivers had 23 points and 11 rebounds.

20. Alabama

Alabama took down Florida and Missouri this week, the latter without leading scorer Sarah Ashlee Barker. They won both with ease and improve to 15-1 on the season.

21. Utah

Utah took down Iowa State 75-67 on the road this Sunday. Mayé Touré was fantastic, finishing with 24 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two steals and three blocks. The Utes were 13-of-26 from deep and held the Cyclones to 5-of-20 from the perimeter.

22. Iowa

Iowa suffered an expected 74-66 home loss to Maryland at home this week. The Terps are rolling and the Hawkeyes didn’t go down without a fight. Lucy Olsen was 5-of-7 from deep with 19 points, three rebounds and four steals.

23. South Dakota State

South Dakota State makes its first appearance on On3’s Top 25 and is the only mid-major to be ranked this week. The Jackrabbits impressed in the non-conference, with wins over Oregon, Ball State and Northern Iowa. Their only losses are to Duke, Georgia Tech and Texas – all teams ranked in the Top 15.

24. Florida State

Florida State makes its first appearance in the Top 25 since week one, when it fell at Illinois. The Seminoles have just one loss since, a 2-point falter at Tennessee and have blown out teams like Virginia Tech, Gonzaga and Missouri State. A few scares against Syracuse and SMU prevent them from moving up further for now.

25. Cal

Cal stays in the Top 25 following a road loss at Clemson this week. They bounced back with a 15-point road win at SMU. That, coupled with a few key losses, keeps the Bears in the rankings.
