On3's week eight women's basketball Top 25
We’re seven weeks in to the 2024-25 women’s college basketball season and a lot has changed. Here’s On3’s updated top 25 following the seventh week of competition.
1. UCLA
UCLA holds strong at No. 1 for the fourth straight week, staying undefeated and adding a quality win over Creighton—even without Lauren Betts.
Key wins: South Carolina, Louisville, Creighton
Losses: None
2. South Carolina
South Carolina stays steady at No. 2. Their only game this week was a comfortable win over Charleston Southern, though they had a sluggish start.
Key wins: NC State, Duke, TCU
Losses: UCLA
3. Notre Dame
Notre Dame had a blowout win over Loyola (MD) on Sunday to stay in the Top 3. They’ll start conference play next week and continue to be tested.
Key wins: USC, Texas, UConn
Losses: TCU, Utah
4. USC
USC is this week’s biggest riser after a nail-biting 2-point road win against UConn. With seven straight victories since their lone loss to Notre Dame, the Trojans are proving they belong.

5. TCU
TCU cruised past UCF on the road and boasts two big resume wins over NC State and Notre Dame. They’ve gone unchallenged since their loss to South Carolina, but Big 12 competition is heating up.

6. LSU
LSU climbs to No. 6 with a perfect record. They overcame a sluggish start in their first true road test at UIC, ultimately winning by 18.

7. Texas
Texas finished their week off with a solid win over South Dakota State. They dominated, 103-57, for a win over one of the top mid-majors in the country.
Key wins: Richmond, West Virginia, South Dakota State
Losses: Notre Dame
8. UConn
UConn drops after a second loss, this time to USC at home. A strong second-half push wasn’t enough to overcome a rough start in Storrs.
Key wins: UNC, Ole Miss, Louisville
Losses: Notre Dame, USC
9. Duke
Duke had a tough outing on the road against USF, managing just 15 first-half points in a 65-56 loss. Despite three losses, their resume of strong wins keeps them afloat.
Key wins: Oklahoma, Kansas State, Belmont, South Dakota State
Losses: Maryland, South Carolina, USF
10. Oklahoma
Oklahoma secured a solid neutral-site win over Michigan. While they’ve yet to beat a ranked team, victories against Louisville, Michigan, and UNLV have been impressive.
Key wins: Michigan, Louisville
Losses: Duke
11. Maryland
Maryland holds steady with a perfect record. They crushed William & Mary 107-57 this week, but bigger challenges await in Big Ten play.

12. Kansas State
Kansas State notched two wins this week, the latter marking their first conference win of the season. The Wildcats took down Cincinnati 76-59 at home and are now 13-1 this season.

13. Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech earned a solid victory over Nebraska at home this week. They’re one of few remaining undefeated teams and boast an impressive resume.
Key wins: UNC, Nebraska, Mississippi State, South Dakota State, Oregon
Losses: None
14. Ohio State
Ohio State remains undefeated after dismantling Stanford on the road, 84-59. The Buckeyes are building a very solid resume.
Key wins: Illinois, Belmont
Losses: None
15. North Carolina
UNC earned a pair of wins over Florida and Norfolk State this week. The Tar Heels have a tough stretch coming up with games against Miami, Notre Dame and Duke.

16. Michigan State
Michigan State took their first loss to Alabama in a neutral-court battle, struggling from deep in the 15-point setback. However, they still boast victories over three ranked opponents.

17. Tennessee
Tennessee remains undefeated, highlighted by an impressive neutral-site win over Richmond, followed by a blowout of Tulsa, 102-61.

18. NC State
NC State took care of business against James Madison, extending their win streak to four. All three losses came against Top 6 teams.

19. Kentucky
Kentucky edged Belmont at home thanks to Georgia Amoore’s 23-point performance and 12 made three-pointers as a team.

Losses: UNC
20. Cal
Cal notched two wins this week over Fordham and Temple to improve to 13-1 this season. Their sole loss is a 6-point falter to Michigan State.

21. Alabama
Alabama re-enters the rankings after neutral-court wins over Michigan State and Richmond. Despite a close loss to Cal earlier in the season, the Crimson Tide is showing consistency.

22. Iowa
Iowa survived a scare from Northern Iowa, pulling out a 92-86 win at home. They kick off Big Ten play next week with a winnable home game against Purdue.
Key wins: Iowa State

23. Utah
Utah handled Arizona State in a 20-point home win on Friday. After a tough early loss to Mississippi State, they’ve been gaining momentum.

24. Illinois
Illinois got past Southern with a 69-57 home victory. With Big Ten play looming, they haven’t faced any significant challenges since their loss to Ohio State.

25. Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt picked up a road win over Dayton and dominated West Georgia at home. Their only loss is to Michigan State, but they’ve yet to face other ranked teams.
