We’re 12 weeks in to the 2024-25 women’s college basketball season and a lot has changed. Here’s On3’s updated top 25 following the 12th week of competition.

1. UCLA

UCLA improved to 20-0 with a road victory over Maryland this Sunday. While the Terps were without Shyanne Sellers, there’s no understating the success that the Bruins have seen this year.

2. South Carolina

This was the first week I truly considered bumping South Carolina to the No. 1 spot despite the head-to-head result. Ultimately, I decided against it, but the Gamecocks now have four consecutive wins over ranked programs following a victory over No. 5 LSU

3. Notre Dame

Notre Dame had a quiet week, with one road victory at Boston College. Hannah Hidalgo had 23 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals.

4. USC

USC notched the road win at Purdue with ease in their lone game of the week. JuJu Watkins dropped 35 points as the Trojans concluded their trip to Indiana.

5. LSU

LSU fell on the road to South Carolina and then pulled out a win over Texas A&M two days later. These two results won’t sway things too much, but they reflect a loaded SEC this year.

6. Texas

Texas had a major three-game week. They dominated Maryland on a neutral site and then took down Tennessee and Ole Miss in narrow results. The Longhorns have had their fair share of struggle, but they added three very solid wins to their resume.

7. UConn

UConn notched a win in their only real conference play challenge at Creighton. It was an 11-point result and a major game for Paige Bueckers and Sarah Strong

8. Oklahoma

Oklahoma was fortunate in having a less challenging week than others and having several teams ahead of them lose in some major upsets. They’ll move into the Top 10 this week, but they’ll have to earn it next week to stay put.

9. TCU

TCU suffered their first falter since losing to No. 2 South Carolina. They fell in a one-point loss at Oklahoma State, who’s now made their way into the Top 25 with the win. They eked out a win against Baylor, but still drop a few spots after a challenging week for the Horned Frogs.

10. Maryland

Maryland dropped three games this week but were without Shyanne Sellers, the Terps leading scorer. Each loss was to a Top 15 team and, assuming Sellers returns fairly soon, these results shouldn’t harm Maryland too much.

11. Ohio State

It was a successful week for Ohio State as they took down Maryland at home and Nebraska on the road. While Maryland was dealing with injuries, it’s the Nebraska win that impressed me even more. These are the Buckeyes first pair of currently-ranked wins this season.

12. Kansas State

Kansas State was without leading scorer Ayoka Lee and suffered its first unranked loss of the year at Colorado. While this could be concerning if Lee is out for an extended period, it’s not too detrimental just yet.

13. Duke

Duke earned a solid road win at Georgia Tech this Sunday in their second legitimate resume victory since Thanksgiving. It was a 5-point result, but Duke’s bench depth shined in the win.

14. North Carolina

North Carolina lost in a heartbreaker to Florida State at home. Ta’Niya Latson scored the buzzer-beater to hand the Tar Heels the loss, but they’ll stay in the Top 15.

15. Kentucky

Kentucky fell to Texas A&M on the road in an uncharacteristic loss for the Wildcats. Luckily, plenty of other programs faced similar fates this week and the Aggies stock is rising.

16. Tennessee

Tennessee suffered an 80-76 loss on the road to Texas. Each of their four losses this season have been by 4 points or less to ranked foes.

17. Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech continued to struggle against ranked opponents, falling 55-50 at home to Duke this week. After starting the season so strong, the Yellowjackets are 2-4 in their last six games.

18. Cal

Cal squeaked out a road win at Stanford this week in an otherwise uneventful slate. They’ll face a tough test next Thursday against UNC.

19. NC State

NC State notched a road win over Syracuse and a home victory over Virginia Tech this week. The Wolfpack are on a 5-game win streak.

20. Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt’s stock is rising by the minute. They earned a 66-64 road win at Alabama this Sunday, marking their second ranked victory in three games. After a tough stretch against some SEC opponents, the Commodores are competing with the best.

21. Alabama

Alabama fell to Vanderbilt in a close result despite Sarah Ashlee Barker’s career-high 35-point performance. The SEC schedule doesn’t get any easier and the Crimson Tide will have to tack on some meaningful wins.

22. Nebraska

Nebraska kept up with Ohio State, but ultimately lost in a 6-point result. This wasn’t one they were necessarily expected to win, but their fight kept them in it.

23. Florida State

Florida State reappears in the Top 25 after an impressive road win at North Carolina. This was the signature win the Seminoles needed to stand out in a challenging ACC conference.

24. Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State makes their first appearance in the rankings after a major upset win over TCU at home. While they struggled against Texas Tech a few days later, they pulled out the 71-68 victory.

25. Creighton

Creighton suffered a 72-61 loss to UConn, but kept up with the Huskies better than most. They’re otherwise undefeated in conference play and will stay afloat in the Top 25.
