Oklahoma was down to their final strike of the season, facing elimination in the Women’s College World Series against Texas Tech. Down two with a runner on, one pitch could have eliminated the Sooners. Instead, as they normal do, Patty Gasso’s team came up in the clutch to tie the game.

As people rejoiced in Oklahoma City, the Texas Tech side was absolutely crushed. Those watching from afar could not help but feel heartbroken, either. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is no different as he follow his former school through the WCWS.

Mahomes posted a GIF on social media to describe his full emotions. A simple one with no caption needed, relating to every Red Raider fan out there. You can check out the post from Mahomes here.

Star pitcher NiJaree Canady was the one to give up the home run, a rare miscue from here — especially in the postseason. Canady got the third and final out shortly after, sending the game into the bottom half of the seventh inning.

At times, Oklahoma can feel inevitable on the softball diamond. When you seemingly have them dead in the headlights, a massive swing goes in their favor to either extend or win a game.

Mahomes and the rest of Red Raider Nation should not give up hope, yet. Texas Tech bats are coming up with a chance to win the game and avoid extra innings. But even if they do play some extra frames, Canady is still one of the best pitchers in all of college softball.

Earlier in the game, Mahomes was loving what he is seeing early out of Texas Tech softball in a Women’s College World Series matchup against Oklahoma. The Red Raiders got out to a 2-0 lead on the defending national champion Sooners in the second inning Monday.

TTU got a big played when Demi Elder recorded an RBI triple down the left field line for the team’s first hit of the game. She later scored on a single from Bailey Lindemuth to give the Red Raiders their first pair of runs.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and Texas Tech alumn reacted to the sequence on social media, cheering on his alma mater. He made the post to X, formerly Twitter, which you can view below.
