Patrick Mahomes reacts to Texas Tech walk-off vs. Oklahoma, sending Red Raiders to WCWS championship series

Patrick Mahomes rode the roller coaster known as Texas Tech softball on Monday. One moment, the former Red Raiders star was down in the dumps because Oklahoma tied up the Women’s College World Series semifinal. One strike away, star Texas Tech pitcher NiJaree Canady gave up a soul-crushing two-run home run to send the game to the bottom half of the seventh inning.
A few batters later, emotions were back at an all-time high for Mahomes. Texas Tech got the walk-off sac-fly to place itself in the WCWS championship game against Texas. A new step forward for the program, now just two wins away from a national title.
Mahomes once again took to social media for his reaction. “AHHHHHHHHHHHHH LETS GOOOO!!!!!!!!” was followed up by a GIF of a waving Texas Tech flag. You can check out both posts from somebody know knows a thing or two about coming up clutch in big moments.
Mahomes might have to get down to Oklahoma City himself to watch Texas Tech compete against an old Big 12 rival. The athletic department, as a whole, has just three team national championships in its history. Two have been in recent years in the track and field world, with an indoor title occurring in 2024.
Softball finding a way to get the job done would cause a massive party in Lubbock. Not many people will be supporting the Red Raiders more than Mahomes.

More on Texas Tech, advancing to Women’s College World Series championship series
Oklahoma participating in the WCWS championship series has been automatic in recent years, as has the Sooners going on to win the whole thing. Patty Gasso has won four titles in a row and was looking for the fifth consecutive but had a steep mountain to climb.
Texas Tech was already 2-0 and in order for Oklahoma to advance, they needed to get two wins off the Red Raiders. Quite a tough task with Canady on the mound. Beating her once would have been impressive enough, something the Sooners came oh so close to doing.
Instead, the walk-off gets Texas Tech to the next — and final — round with celebrations on deck for the next 24 hours, at least. A tough Texas team is waiting on the other side, somebody the Red Raiders have already lost to twice during the season. Game 1 is set to begin on Wednesday night.
