The SEC softball coaches have voted on the league’s projected order of finish in 2025, and Texas has been picked to win the conference. The Longhorns received seven first-place votes and a total of 186 points in the poll, placing it ahead of second-place Florida. The Gators received six first-place votes and 181 points, so the race was close.

The other team receiving some first-place votes? That would be the Oklahoma Sooners, who have won the past four national championships. Many are expecting Oklahoma to find it a little harder to replace some top-tier talent this year, but the potential is always there when Patty Gasso is in charge. The Sooners finished with two first-place votes and a total of 170 points in the coaches’ polling.

The SEC notes that points for the poll were compiled on a descending basis, and coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team. SEC softball teams are slated to begin the 2025 season on Thursday, February 6, and conference play will start off on Friday, March 7.
