Standout 2026 recruit Myah Epps has committed to Louisville, she announced this weekend. The 5-foot-10 guard from Fort Wayne (IN) chose the Cardinals over offers from Michigan, Virginia Tech, Miami and others.

“The people were the biggest thing,” Epps told On3. “Coach [Jeff] Walz and his entire staff did such a great job recruiting me. They really made me feel like I was wanted. There was never a doubt in my mind of that.”

One of the main factors in Epps’ decision was the ability to have her family watch her at home games. She wanted to be a reasonable distance from home.

“That was probably one of the biggest things that went into making my decision,” Epps said. “Originally, I would say I didn’t care about going far from home, but as I got older, I’m really close with my family and couldn’t bring myself to choose somewhere that I’d be a plane ride away…My family can make it to almost every one of my home games here.”

Her relationship with Walz has grown throughout the recruitment process and she really appreciates his coaching style.

“I really like how straightforward and direct he is, because that’s very similar to how my dad is,…” Epps said. “I think I was used to that, and it kind of attracted me towards Coach Walz and how he went about things. One of the things he said is that they don’t just hand out offers. He carefully recruits players and their families to make sure they’re people he wants in his program and I just feel so honored that he believed I was one of those people.”

Epps knew that an ACC program would fit her fast style of play and Louisville is no exception.

“I love how fast they play,” Epps said. “That’s another reason why I chose to play in the ACC at Louisville, because I just love how fast the game moves. That’s how I love to play. That’s how I’ve always loved to play since I was a kid. I feel like I can fit the roles of some of their players now. I love their defense as well – how up-tempo and fast-paced it is. They’ll press and that’s how I love to play, so that was all very attractive to me.”

Epps has received a warm welcome from Louisville fans since her announcement and is ecstatic to be a Cardinal. She noted that the fanbase, the opportunities and the family feel are all aspects of the program she can’t wait to experience.
