No. 6-ranked 2025 recruit Agot Makeer has narrowed her list to six finalists, she told On3.

Makeer, a 6-foot-1 forward from Thunder Bay, Ontario, is now considering South Carolina, Duke, Michigan State, UNC, Kentucky and UConn for her eventual landing spot.

“Genuine relationships are big for me,” Agot Makeer said. “My top six schools are those because I have genuine relationships with the coaching staff and they’ve taken time to build relationships with my family as well… All six schools, I could go and make an impact.”

She’s visited Michigan State and North Carolina so far but plans to visit all six programs prior to making her decision.

“I’m a very competitive person,” Agot Makeer said. “My work ethic isn’t like a lot of the other girls in my class, and I feel like that puts me ahead sometimes. I’m versatile in a way that my body is different, I can get to the rim and score from the perimeter.”

Agot Makeer talked to On3 about each of her top six programs.

Duke

“It’s really good with them. They’ve recruited me for about a year and a half now. I feel like I have a pretty good relationship with the coaching staff. My teammate, Toby [Fournier], is going there, too, so I feel like I have a deeper connection there. I like North Carolina and so does my family, so I feel like that’s where we are with Duke. It’s a rising team and that’s really cool.”

UConn

“It’s been my dream school ever since I was a kid. Them reaching out and wanting me to be part of their team has been kind of shocking, but at the same time, not really. They just make pros and that’s what attracts me to UConn.”

North Carolina

“I feel like I have a really good relationship with coach [Courtney] Banghart. If I were to go there, I know she’d do something really good with me and she’s great with player development. I really loved my visit there and I’m excited to keep going with the process.”

South Carolina

“It’s really good. I have a pretty good relationship with coach [Dawn] Staley. It’s one of the powerhouses of women’s basketball like UConn. It’s really cool to be recruited by them and I love what they do there for black women, especially. I really like that and I have a good relationship with the coaching staff, so I’m excited to get on campus.”

Michigan State

“Out of all of them, I have the best relationship with this coaching staff. Coach [Robyn] Fralick really knows what she’s talking about and she’s a winner. I really love what they’re doing at Michigan State and it’s close to home. It has a lot of pros – the facilities are elite.”

Kentucky

“I have a good relationship with the coaching staff. Coach Josh [Petersen] was recruiting me at Miami and then when he switched to Kentucky, he continued to call me a lot. I feel like they’re very intriguing to me. I’ve always liked coach [Kenny] Brooks. They also had Rhyne Howard, and they’ll continue to produce pros like Georgia Amoore. That’s very attractive to me.”
