Top-15 recruit Leah Macy commits to Notre Dame
Class of 2025 five-star recruit Leah Macy announced her commitment to Notre Dame on Monday afternoon, following an eventful 24 hours of commitments to the Fighting Irish.
The 6-foot-2 forward from Louisville, Kentucky is ranked No. 14 on HoopGurlz’s 2025 recruiting rankings. She averaged 24.9 points and 13.9 rebounds as a junior at Bethlehem High School. She shot a staggering 67% from the floor.
Macy started her high school career at Elizabeth Town High School as a seventh grader. She transferred to Mercy Academy in Louisville for her freshman and sophomore seasons. In four varsity years at those two schools, Macy racked up 2,027 points and 1,197 rebounds. She was a two-time Courier Journal first-team all-state selection at Mercy and kept the streak going with another first-team selection in her first year at Bethlehem.
“Leah has made an immediate impact for our team and our club this season, not just on the floor, but also off the floor,” West Virginia Thunder GUAA coach Danny Riego told On3. “She positively impacted our culture by connecting with the young kids in our program. I expect her to start building a similar legacy at Notre Dame.
“Leah has instantly made us a national contender in GUAA. Her efficiency and productivity on the floor has been undeniable.”

Macy had offers from more than 25 Division I programs, including top schools such as Louisville, LSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, North Carolina and Ohio State.
Her top four schools heading into the announcement were Louisville, Kentucky, Notre Dame and UConn. Rather than staying in-state, Macy elected to join the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, who added two of the top transfers over the last 24 hours in Liza Karlen and Liatu King.
Notre Dame also has a top young talent in Hannah Hidalgo, who led the country in steals last season as a freshman and will continue to be one of the best young stars in the game. The Fighting Irish have all but cemented a spot in the preseason Top 25 next season and adding a five-star talent in Macy will keep Notre Dame among the best in the country for 2025.
She’s the Irish’s first commit in the 2025 class and is yet another top-20 commit for head coach Niele Ivey, who has landed five from the 2023-2025 classes.
