Highly recruited prospect Ciara Byars has narrowed her list to seven finalists, she told On3. The 6-foot-2 forward out of Winchester (Kentucky) George Rogers Clark High School will consider Louisville, Cal, Virginia Tech, Michigan, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Maryland for her eventual commitment.  “Throughout this time of injury, I’ve had more time to connect with certain colleges,” Byars told On3. “It just felt like the right time. I want to enjoy the rest of AAU and my senior year.” Ciara Byars has unofficially visited Louisville, Vanderbilt, Michigan and Maryland so far, but she plans to visit each of the seven programs on official visits between August and October. She hopes to make her decision prior to the fall signing period in November.  “Fit is important,” Byars said. “I think I could play at any of these schools, but it’s just how coaches would use me in their system and just allow me to be successful. Another big thing is just player development. I want to play in the pros, either overseas or in the league, so being able to develop myself into the player that I need to be.”  Byars describes herself as a versatile player but notes a few areas that she hopes to improve on before heading to college.  “I think I’m a very versatile player,” Byars said. “Being able to play inside and out and just making the right play, whether that’s finding a teammate or scoring myself. I know how to get to my spots very well. Two things I want to work on are displaying my three ball a little more, because I can shoot it, I just don’t take it as often and rebounding more.”  Byars talked to On3 about her experience with each of her seven finalists.
