Top 2025 recruit Aliyahna “Puff” Morris has committed to the Cal Bears, she told On3. Morris chose the Bears over Duke, Illinois, Yale and Harvard

“It was really the whole feel,” Morris said of choosing Cal. “I also liked it being in my home state. I feel like their program fits me best.”

The 5-foot-5 point guard from Rancho Cucamonga (California) Etiwanda High School recently took an official visit to Cal and knew it was the place for her.

“It felt really good when I went down for the visit,” Morris told On3. “Out of all my options, I think it fit me the best. I got to experience the Ivy League and then the Power 5 schools. I think Cal is best for me.”

The relationships she formed with the coaching staff have grown to be really strong throughout the years Cal has been recruiting Morris.

“Coach Charmin [Smith] – she’s been amazing,” Morris told On3. “I’ve been talking to her for years now, and the rest of her coaching staff is great too. I mean, they’re all welcoming and open to getting to know me. They keep in contact with me.”

But outside of the relationships, Morris can see herself making a significant impact on the court.

“I think I’ll do well there,” Morris said. “They’re losing their point guard, so I should fit right into the slot. Bonding with the team wasn’t awkward or anything when we first met… so I think that’s a big piece too. They’re very nice people.”

Most of all, Morris is excited to help build Cal into a national powerhouse and compete against the best teams in the country.

“I’m really excited to go to Cal,” Morris said. “They’re not a super big school, but I think I can change that, being the player I am and going into a really competitive conference that plays higher-ranked schools. So I’m really excited about going through that. I think I’m most excited about playing in the ACC. They have pretty good competition in schools, some big hitters. I think they’ll start to know what Cal’s about.”
