Top 2025 recruit Jaida Civil commits to Tennessee
Top 2025 recruit Jaida Civil has committed to Tennessee, she announced on Friday evening. Civil chose the Volunteers over Miami, Ole Miss, Florida State, Mississippi State, Cincinnati, UCF and North Carolina.
The 6-foot guard from Vero Beach (Florida) Palm Bay Senior really enjoyed her visit to Knoxville and built up strong relationships with the coaching staff, including Gabe Lazo, who was the lead in her recruitment.
“My goodness,” Civil told On3 in a previous interview. “Tennessee was a really great visit. Coach Kim [Caldwell] is great. My coach has been helping me try to see playing styles and Coach Kim came from a defensive style – D2 with defense and all that. I definitely love that about her. She’s really sweet too. Coach Gabe [Lazo] has been recruiting me for a really long time. I love him. And coach Roman [Tubner] and the others. I really love them. I love them.”

There were several factors Civil considered before making her decision.
“The most important thing to me is the staff,” Jaida Civil told On3 in a previous interview. “Being very close with the head coach, that’s one thing that’s important to me. Also, another thing that’s really important to me, to be honest, is playing time. I do love to play on the court, and I feel like I can impact my whole team being on the court, so just – not a lot of playing time, but playing time. I just love to play.”
Tennessee has assembled a top class of recruits in Kim Caldwell’s first year as head coach. The Vols have landed Mia and Mya Pauldo, Deniya Prawl and now Jaida Civil.
