Top 2025 women's basketball recruit McKenzie Mathurin narrows list to 14

Top Class of 2025 recruit McKenzie Mathurin has narrowed her list to 14 finalists, she told On3.
Her list of finalists consists of Baylor, Arizona, Michigan, Texas Tech, North Carolina, NC State, Kansas State, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida, Florida State and Oregon.
The 5-foot-10 guard out of Broken Arrow (Ok.) High School was originally committed to Nebraska but reopened her recruitment more than a month ago.
“A lot can change in a year,” Mathurin told On3. “The thing that changed the most for me was perspective. When I committed, I was playing with Broken Arrow and my high school team and I was the best player on the team. The only star and that’s what I was used to… but after playing with Team Trae Young and with these literal superstars as teammates, I kind of changed my perspective.”
Rather than being the star of a team, McKenzie Mathurin wants to join forces with other high-level talent so she can both learn from and work with them – and contend for a national championship.
McKenzie Mathurin has busy visit schedule
Over the past month, McKenzie Mathurin has had several phone and Zoom calls with high-level programs nationally. She told On3 that the biggest things she’s looking for in a landing spot are relationships, player development and style of play.

“I definitely want to play fast,” Mathurin said. “That’s how my AAU team plays, and I feel like that’s where I fit best – in transition, being able to show my skill set and not be confined in a box.”
Mathurin took three visits over June and July to Texas Tech, Alabama and Michigan. She also visited Kansas State during her initial recruitment before committing to Nebraska.
“I don’t really want to go on 12 official visits, because they’re really tiring,” Mathurin said. “I think I’m just going to visit the top ones that I’m really interested in and see how it goes from there.”
McKenzie Mathurin has three more visits set for this summer. She’ll visit UNC from July 24-26, Ole Miss from August 1-3, and Baylor sometime in August.
