Top-5 matchup between LSU, South Carolina in women's basketball rescheduled due to Winter Storm Enzo
A top-5 matchup between the LSU and South Carolina women’s basketball teams has been rescheduled due to the impacts of Winter Storm Enzo, the programs announced on Wednesday morning.
The game was originally scheduled to be played on Thursday night at 8 ET in Columbia, SC.
Instead it will be played on Friday at 5 p.m. ET. The game will still be broadcast on ESPN, as originally scheduled, but College GameDay will no longer be part of the broadcast. College GameDay announced it will be canceling the show due to the postponement.
While the weather and road conditions in Columbia should improve by Thursday night, LSU is unable to travel ahead of the game thanks to the snow and ice.
The 18-1 Gamecocks have won 16 in a row against the Tigers and 53 consecutive regular-season games against SEC opponents. That streak pre-dates LSU coach Kim Mulkey’s time in Baton Rouge. At 20-0 this season, though, LSU is undefeated and hoping to add a needed signature win to their postseason resume.
Needless to say, Friday night’s contest should be an excellent one.
South Carolina’s MiLaysia Fulwiley picking up defensively
One thing that could be a major factor in Friday night’s game against LSU is the improving defense of South Carolina sophomore MiLaysia Fulwiley. She has been on another level on that end of the floor in the last few games.

It’s a stark contrast to earlier in her career and something the Gamecocks have been counting on.
“It’s been a steady climb since probably our Mississippi State game,” coach Dawn Staley said. “It’s been a climb for Lay. Doesn’t mean that she’s not going to she’s not going to go back to a different place. That’s part of the process. It hasn’t happened in a couple of games, and that’s growth.
“I’m proud of her because I asked her to be a little bit more disciplined while giving her the freedom to do whatever she needs to do.”
So far so good for the Gamecocks. Now they’ll put that improved defense to the test against the LSU Tigers. Albeit, delayed by a day.
