It was a thrilling week around Women’s College Basketball with multiple AP Top 10 matchups over the last week. Naturally, those games are going to lead to the AP Top 25 Poll getting another shakeup as December is now in full swing.

By this point in the season, teams have had more of an opportunity to establish just how legitimate they are in the sport. At the same time, there are still plenty of teams that are going to make a run in the sport, especially when you take into consideration that in most cases teams haven’t started up conference play yet.

With all of that in mind, here is a look at the latest update to the Women’s AP Top 25 Poll:

1. UCLA

The UCLA Bruins keep on winning and are still one of the top teams in the AP Poll with their unbeaten record. Last week, that included adding another win this past week. This one came against Washington by double digits. With that, Big Ten play is off to a hot start.

From here, UCLA has another few days off. After that, it’s back to non-conference play with a game against Long Beach State before the next AP Poll comes out.

2. UConn

The unbeaten UConn Huskies continue to roll this season. Last week that started with a pair of blowout wins. The first of those came against Holy Cross. Then, the second was an AP Top 25 win over Louisville.

Next week, UConn is going to get tested once again. Notre Dame, another top-ranked team this season, should be a major test for the Huskies. After that, they’ll start up Big East play against Georgetown before the next AP Poll.

3. South Carolina

In November, South Carolina suffered its first loss of the season. Since then, however, it’s been lights out for the Gamecocks. That extended into last week when South Carolina added two more wins over ranked opponents, beating Duke and TCU by double digits each.

On paper, the schedule will take a step back next week. The Gamecocks are going to have a bit of a break before taking on USF out of the AAC on Sunday. That’s part of a stretch of three non-conference games that South Carolina has before January.

4. LSU

LSU got a scare on Thursday, needing overtime to survive an upset minded Stanford. After that, the Tigers worked out some frustrations from that game on Grambling, winning 100-54. With that, LSU has continued its unbeaten campaign.

This next week, non-conference play continues for LSU. That starts with an interesting in-state game against Louisiana. After that, the Tigers are set to play Seton Hall.

5. USC

Since dropping a game in November to Notre Dame, USC has been on an excellent run of success. That continued last week with wins over Cal Baptist and Oregon. That win over Oregon also represented the beginning of Big Ten play for both teams.

Next week, USC has a return to non-conference action as December marches on. Fresno State and Elon are coming up before the next AP Poll comes out. Both of those will be games USC expects to win.

6. Texas

Texas suffered its first loss of the season, dropping an overtime game to Notre Dame. That’s a fairly respectable loss and the Longhorns didn’t drop too far in the AP Poll for the loss. On top of that, the Longhorns bounced back with a 31 point win over James Madison.

Next week, Texas has a pair of non-conference matchups that the Longhorns are going to be favorites in. That starts with Southern on Wednesday. After that, they’ll take on Richmond.

7. Maryland

Maryland just continues to win and continues to move up in the AP Poll. Last week that started with a non-conference win. After that, the Terrapins ended up opening Big Ten play with a nine-point win over Purdue.

From here, Maryland has a relatively large break in their schedule. This upcoming week, the Terrapins don’t actually have a game. It’s not until December 19th when they’ll be back in action against William & Mary.

8. Notre Dame

After suffering a pair of losses to end the month of November, Notre Dame needed to bounce back in a big way. They did just that, earning an AP Top 10 win over Texas in overtime on Thursday. After that, the Irish kicked off ACC play with a win over Syracuse.

Now that Notre Dame appears to be back on track, they’re once again looking at a major challenge. Next up is a game against UConn, which could help set the tone for the next stretch of the season for both teams.

9. Duke

In recent weeks, Duke has been climbing the AP Poll rankings with several big wins. However, that run of success did end last week with a loss to South Carolina. Still, after bouncing back with an ACC win over Virginia Tech, Duke remains highly ranked.

Next week, Duke returns to non-conference play, this time with more manageable games against Wofford and USF. From there, ACC play will be in full swing.

10. Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Sooners moved into the Top 10 of the AP Poll after some chaos ahead of them and a pair of wins this past week. That included a Top 25 win over Louisville and a blowout over Alabama State.

Now, Oklahoma is looking at a week with only one non-conference game. That’s also not until next Sunday when the Sooners take on Oral Roberts. Those non-conference games are going to be the path forward for a while before SEC play tips off in January.
