Women's College Basketball Rankings: Final AP Poll Top 25 updated following NCAA Tournament

The Connecticut Huskies are on top of the of the women’s college basketball AP Top 25 Poll once again after their dominating performance on Sunday. Paige Bueckers and company stood tall, looking Dawn Staley’s South Carolina team in the face and delivering them a 23-point loss on the grandest stage.
While it’s obvious Connecticut will lead the way, the rest of the Top 25 has been revealed as the season came to an end over the weekend. The Gamecocks and teams like Texas, UCLA and TCU won’t have their heads after receiving some major respect, but it pales in comparison to being the last team standing, like the Huskies were.
It’s time to put the cap on the 2024-25 season. Here’s the final, updated Women’s AP Poll Top 25 after the 2025 NCAA Tournament. Check out where your favorite team ended up below, as they turn the page on this past season’s run.
1. Connecticut (+2)
Connecticut returned to the top of the mountaintop on Sunday. Paige Bueckers capped off her college career with a legendary title run, and the Huskies can call themselves the queens of the sport once again in 2025.
UConn won their Regional in Spokane by defeating USC in the Elite Eight, and then they followed that up with a Final Four win over UCLA. Of course, they bested South Carolina in the finale, and etched their name into history. There’s no other choice for No. 1.
2. South Carolina

South Carolina has been the top team in the sport over the past couple of seasons. However, they couldn’t finish the job in 2025, as Connecticut had their number this time around.
Still, the Gamecocks shouldn’t hang their heads. They still won Regional 2 in Birmingham with a victory over Duke, and got the dub over Texas in the Final Four. It was just the Huskies who had them figured out, and it came back to bite them in the finale.
3. UCLA (-2)
UCLA had an awesome season. They made it all the way to the Final Four, defeating LSU in the Elite Eight on their way there.
However, the eventual champions in Connecticut dismantled them in Tampa. The Huskies delivered a season-ending blow to the tune of a 34-point loss inside Amalie Arena, and the Bruins will be going back to the drawing board for next season.
4. Texas (+1)
Texas made a run at the national title, getting to Tampa for the Final Four via a win over TCU in the Elite Eight. However, they ran into the buzzsaw that is South Carolina when they got there.
Still, the SEC program gave hope to their fans throughout the 2024-25 season. The Longhorns will be back with a vengeance when this time comes next year.
5. USC (-1)

USC was the most tragic of all stories in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. Once Juju Watkins suffered a season-ending ACL tear, the writing was on the wall for one of the top teams in the nation.
The Trojans still made the Elite Eight, but Connecticut picked their bones when they took the court together. Revenge will certainly be on their minds next season, as they wonder what could’ve been.
6. TCU
Hailey Van Lith willed TCU to the Elite Eight. Unfortunately for Horned Frogs fans, they couldn’t overcome Texas once they got there. Still, it was a run to be proud of.

TCU had their fanbase buzzing all season long. We’ll see if they can continue the momentum they’ve earned when next year rolls around.
7. Duke
Duke had South Carolina on the ropes in the Elite Eight. They ended up falling by four in a valiant effort against the runner-ups for the whole shebang.
At least they were able to notch a win over rival North Carolina in the Sweet 16. That earned them some points with their fanbase as they look to grow moving forward.
8. LSU (+2)

The standard at LSU has grown over the past couple of seasons, so they won’t be happy with simply making it to the Elite Eight. Still, it was a commendable accomplishment for the Tigers.
UCLA had some fear in them in the first quarter, but the Bruins rose above to defeat LSU when the time came. Now, the Tigers will look to get back to winning titles in 2026.
9. NC State
NC State had a terrific season. They fell to LSU in the Sweet 16, but the Wolfpack didn’t hang their heads afterwards, as they know they’ve set the table for sustained success in Raleigh.
Before being eliminated by the SEC foe, NC State notched wins over Michigan State and Vermont. We’ll see if they can rise above when 2026 rolls around.
10. Notre Dame (-2)
Notre Dame was a sleeper pick to make a bit of a run in 2025. They faltered a bit, and fell short of expectations, as TCU eliminated them in the Sweet 16.
That’s why they dropped two spots. After some major losses in the transfer portal, it remains to be seen how the Fighting Irish move forward from here.
