Yolett McPhee-McCuin denies 'fake news' involving MiLaysia Fulwiley, Ole Miss

MiLaysia Fulwiley is one of the top available players in the NCAA Transfer Portal following her official entry on Monday. However, of the teams who could be involved with her due to her having a do-not-contact tag, Ole Miss is not among them.
Yolett McPhee-McCuin took to Twitter on Monday to refute a post suggesting there was chatter about interest between Fulwiley and the Rebels. She called that “fake news” in wanting to keep her program away from those rumors.
“This is fake news and I’m tired of y’all speaking on our name for no reason! Enough already,” McPhee-McCuin tweeted this morning.
Fulwiley, a Columbia native, was a surprising entry into the portal coming out of last week after a pair of seasons at South Carolina. She averaged 11.7 points (43.2% FG, 30.2% 3PT), 2.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.6 steals per game in 77 appearances as an exciting guard off the Gamecocks’ bench. In that reserve role, Fulwiley, with recognitions both in conference and nationally, helped them to a 73-4 record the past two years, including all four conference titles as well as an undefeated season last year when they won the national championship.
With her entry, though, Fulwiley may already have an idea of where she’s headed for her junior season elsewhere. That could be reasoned based on that do-not-contact tag she has per On3’s Talia Goodman.

That said, Ole Miss wouldn’t be in that mix with this per Coach Yo herself. The Rebels have already rebuilt with five additions in the portal in Ohio State’s Cotie McMahon, Virginia’s Latasha Lattimore, UCF’s Kaitlin Peterson, Georgia Tech’s Tianna Thompson, and Wichita State’s Jayla Murray. That, as of this morning, has their transfer class rated highly per Goodman.
There will be plenty of rumors and reactions regarding where Fulwiley could be transferring to. McPhee-McCuin just wants Oxford off the table when it comes to those kinds of reports moving forward.
