4-star QB Julian Lewis compares 7th-grade self to Patrick Mahomes

Carrollton (Ga.) four-star quarterback Julian Lewis has been lighting up box scores for the Trojans this season. Carrollton is undefeated and ranked No. 22 in the nation behind 34 touchdown passes and over 2,000 passing yards from Lewis.
With his final year of high school football winding down, Lewis turned back the clock and compiled some of his best highlights from his seventh-grade season — showcasing them alongside highlight plays made by Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The 6-foot-0, 186-pound Lewis has been committed to USC since Aug. 22, 2023. At the time, he was still a member of the class of 2026. He later reclassified to the 2025 cycle in the winter.
Despite his pledge to Southern Cal, Lewis has continued taking visits elsewhere. Lately, Colorado and Indiana have provided the most competition to Lincoln Riley and company. He returned to Boulder last weekend for an unofficial visit.
“I think things remain very fluid with Julian Lewis as they continue to have dialogue with Indiana, Colorado and USC — where he’s a longtime commit and visited twice this fall,” On3’s Steve Wiltfong said on the latest edition of the ‘Wiltfong Whiparound’ this week. “What we do know is he had a fantastic experience at Colorado this weekend, talking to sources that spent time or have knowledge of this recruitment.”
Fourth visit to Boulder
More from Wiltfong on Lewis’ trip to Colorado.
“This is his fourth time visiting Boulder, a chance to get out there on Friday night — because he didn’t have a game this weekend — to get around the players on the team, to get back around the coaching staff, to see this Colorado program really develop. He was there for spring practice, and the family, I remember his dad telling me ‘They’ve got playmakers, this is an offense that’s going to be explosive.’ They wanted to see it in live, real action and they’ve gotten just that. This is one of the more prolific offenses in college football,” Wiltfong said.

“Another thing that’s exciting about Colorado for Julian Lewis is that Shedeur Sanders is exhausting his eligibility following the season, moving on to the NFL, and that job is wide open for next year. If Julian Lewis wants to be a day-one starter on Saturdays, Colorado might be his best opportunity among the three programs.”
Julian Lewis Recruit Profile
Lewis is the nation’s No. 36 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 7 quarterback and No. 5 recruit from Georgia in the class.
On3’s scouting and rankings team writes this about Lewis as a prospect.
“Polished, productive signal caller with the skill set of an accurate distributor. Measured at 6-foot, 186 pounds with a 9 ⅜-inch hand at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Has been a touted prospect for some time, earning offers in middle school. Was initially a member of the 2026 cycle before reclassifying into 2025. A productive and efficient passer while playing in a high classification. Completed 66.4% of his passes for 3,094 yards (11.1 yards per attempt) and 48 touchdowns against two interceptions as a junior. Technically polished and is able to replicate his over the top throwing motion with consistency. Shows the ability to place passes without much variance in location. Quick and decisive decision-maker. Dangerous when working over the middle of the field on RPO’s. Effective at working off of play action. Operates at a high level when in a clean pocket. Plays in an offense that often leans on the quick passing game.
“The youngest top quarterback prospect in the 2025 cycle, turning 17 years-old a month into his senior season. Not physically imposing at this stage and arm strength registers on the lower end among highly-rated peers at the position after reclassifying. Primarily an in-structure quarterback – needs to improve his ability as a rusher (zero rushing touchdowns through two varsity seasons) and improviser against pressure in addition to size and play strength to hold up against contact in the pocket. A skilled, high-floor passer whose ultimate ceiling will be determined by the degree of his physical growth and improvement in athleticism and movement skills.”
