Aaliyah Chavez, Jazzy Davidson, Sienna Betts headlines 2024-25 Gatorade Player of the Year girls basketball state winners

The 2024-25 Gatorade Player of the Year girls basketball state winners feature some of the nation’s top prospects. Leading the way is Aaliyah Chavez, the top-ranked player in the Class of 2025 On3 Industry Rankings.

Chavez adds another achievement to her storied high school basketball career as Texas’ winner. In addition to leading Lubbock’s Monterey Plainsmen to a Class 5A Division 2 state championship, she’s also a McDonald’s All-American. The 5-foot-10 guard is also the Naismith High School Player of the Year winner and a Naismith First Team-All American.

Beyond the basketball court, the Gatorade Player of the Year website noted that Chavez maintained a 3.54 GPA. She also volunteers for her school’s Plainsman Pal program wherein they mentor and befriend an elementary school student. Chavez also devotes time to coaching younger players at her father’s gym.

Women’s basketball fans await March 25, when she announces her decision regarding the college she will represent. Her college team will be getting a player who averaged 34.9 points, 9.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 3.7 steals per game.

Meanwhile, Jazzy Davidson became a three-time Oregon Gatorade Player of the Year winner after averaging 29.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.3 steals, and 2.6 assists per game. She led the Clackamas Cavaliers to a 25-2 record and a state quarterfinals appearance.

In addition to being a Naismith High School Player of the Year finalist, Davidson is also a 2025 USA Women’s Basketball Nike Hoop Summit invitee. Likewise, she also excels at the classroom with a 3.6 GPA and lends time to her school’s Athletic Leadership Council.

Finally, Sienna Betts is the three-time Gatorade Player of the Year Colorado winner. The power forward from Grandview finished the season averaging 23.8 points, 17 rebounds, five assists, and 3.5 blocks per game. She and the Wolves compiled a 23-3 record and a Class 6A state quarterfinals berth.

The UCLA commit maintained a 4.2 GPA while being a peer tutor. She also devotes time to Unified basketball, which joins individuals with varying mental conditions to one team. Betts also helps in basketball camps through the Ronald McDonald House.

According to the award’s official website, they hold athletes to the highest standard by recognizing the nation’s most outstanding high school student athletes. They decide winners based on athletic excellence, academic achievement, and exemplary character.
