2025 No. 1 SF Agot Makeer transferring to Montverde Academy
One of the nation’s top women’s basketball recruits is on the move to a Florida prep powerhouse.
Thunder Bay (Ontario) four-star small forward Agot Makeer, the No. 6 overall prospect and top-ranked small forward in the 2025 cycle, announced on Tuesday that she is transferring to Montverde Academy.
As a junior for Crestwood Prep, Makeer averaged 19.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists while also earned MVP honors in her high school championship game. She’s now set to join one of the nation’s top basketball programs at the high school level.
Earlier this month, Makeer narrowed her recruitment down to six schools, naming Duke, Kentucky, Michigan State, South Carolina, UConn and UNC finalists for her pledge.
“Genuine relationships are big for me,” Makeer told On3’s Talia Goodman. “My top six schools are those because I have genuine relationships with the coaching staff and they’ve taken time to build relationships with my family as well… All six schools, I could go and make an impact.”

“I’m a very competitive person,” she said. “My work ethic isn’t like a lot of the other girls in my class, and I feel like that puts me ahead sometimes. I’m versatile in a way that my body is different, I can get to the rim and score from the perimeter.”
Agot Makeer Personal Life
“Even though she’s a small forward, Agot Makeer said NBA legends Kevin Durant and Steph Curry influenced her game the most while growing up. ‘I think my strength and is my versatility is what makes me different ,’ Makeer told Kentucky.com. ‘I can play one through five and can guard one through five. So, I think it’s just me being able to do different stuff on the court. Those are things that both of those guys can do – showcase their versatility.’ And those that follow Makeer closely can see the comparisons. ‘Her size, her length and her intelligence in the game are her strengths,’ said Richard Nurse, who coached Makeer for the Kia Nurse Canadian Elite EYBL program. ‘She’s also a great teammate. She talks, she communicates with the athletes. She plays well, she’s always helping all her teammates out.’ Makeer is originally from Fargo, North Dakota, but was raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario.”
