Alabama High School Football Playoffs: State Champions crowned
The 2024 Alabama high school football playoffs have now crowned all seven state champions. From Dec. 4-6, winners across all seven classifications in the AHSAA were decided.

Class 7A Championship
Dec. 4
Thompson — 21
Phenix City Central — 7
All 21 of Thompson’s points came in the second quarter. Auburn four-star safety signee Anquon Fegans had a crucial interception. Sophomore QB Trent Seaborn threw two touchdowns in the win. Miami four-star wide receiver signee Daylyn Upshaw ran for Central’s lone score and also had 129 receiving yards.
Class 6A Championship
Dec. 6
Saraland — 17
Parker — 28
Oregon Five-Star Plus+ cornerback signee Na’eem Offord ended his high school career with a bang, leading Parker with 98 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns. Saraland QB and four-star Texas signee K.J. Lacey threw for 226 yards and two TDs, but was unable to complete the Spartans’ perfect season.
Class 5A Championship
Dec. 5
Montgomery Catholic — 17
Moody — 14
Montgomery Catholic took the lead within the first minute of the game, though offense was not going to be easy to come by for the rest of the evening. Moody tied the game at up 14-14 early in the fourth quarter, though a 23-yard field goal by Montgomery’s JP Costa proved to be the difference. Montgomery has now won consecutive state titles.

Class 4A Championship
Dec. 6
Jackson — 69
Cherokee County — 6
It was a splattering on Friday afternoon in Birmingham, led by junior four-star quarterback Landon Duckworth, who threw for five touchdowns, setting a new 4A title game record. Cherokee County has now lost in the 4A title game in three consecutive seasons.
Class 3A Championship
Dec. 5
Houston Academy — 43
Mars Hill Bible — 50
A 49-point fourth quarter delivered perhaps the most entertaining state title game of the week between Houston Academy and Mars Hill. The game was tied at 29 in the fourth before all hell broke loose. Mars Hill broke out for a 43-29 lead and managed to hold on in the end for its first 3A state title. Mars has now won state titles at the 1A, 2A and 3A levels since 2018.
Class 2A Championship
Dec. 6
Reeltown — 49
Tuscaloosa Academy — 13
For the first time since 2009, The Reeltown Rebels are state champions. Tuscaloosa was never able to fully get in the game, and things got out of hand thanks to three consecutive scores for Reeltown early in the third quarter. Sophomore quarterback Ja’markius Smith threw for three scores in the victory.
Class 1A Championship
Dec. 5
Maplesville — 7
Wadley — 37
Wadley didn’t need a single yard through the air on Thursday night. Four-star junior Jaquez Wilkes rushed for 312 yards and five touchdowns, capping off a perfect season for the Bulldogs. The win delivered Wadley its first state title.
