Iowa State 4-star QB commit Alex Manske out for remainder of senior season with arm injury
Algona (Iowa) four-star quarterback Alex Manske is the latest senior signal-caller to suffer a season-ending injury.
The Iowa State commit announced on social media Tuesday evening that he will miss the remainder of his senior season due to a UCL injury in his arm that was suffered during Algona’s 21-20 loss at Humboldt on Friday night.
“I’m disappointed to announce due to an UCL injury in my arm that requires surgery I will miss the remainder of my senior football season,” Manske wrote. “I’m excited to support and help my teammates in every way possible the rest of the season. I look forward to making a full recovery and continuing my football career at lowa State. Thanks to everyone for all the support and prayers. God’s timing, not mine.”
Manske’s senior season finishes with over 1,400 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and no interceptions. As a junior, he threw for 2,498 yards and 29 touchdowns. Earlier this fall, he was recognized for his hot start to the year by On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power.
“Manske is a functional athlete with a quick arm. He’s able to generate considerable rotation throughout his upper body, which leads to the ability to deliver without having his feet set. We’ve seen the arm strength show up, as Manske has been able to attack all areas of the field,” Power wrote. “He’s also a tough, nimble runner who’s a threat on scrambles and designed runs. We also see the Iowa State pledge line up on defense, showing his toughness and physicality.”

Over the summer, Manske competed in the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles, where he was named a top performer during day one of the event by On3.
“Manske is a flexible athlete who moves with twitch,” Power said. “He had some hot streaks on Tuesday evening and showed why he was coveted by many college programs prior to his commitment to the Cyclones.”
Manske committed to Iowa State on Feb. 1 and is easily the top-ranked pledge in the Cyclones’ class. On3 ranks Manske much higher than other recruiting services, as he checks in as the No. 133 overall prospect, No. 12 QB and top-ranked player in the state of Iowa, per the 2025 On300. He’s the No. 316 recruit and No. 25 QB in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Algona is now 6-1 on the season and the No. 32 team in Iowa, according to the On3 Massey Ratings. The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Oct. 18 against Webster City.
