Archbishop Mitty (Calif.) beats Ontario Christian (Calif.) to win Nike Tournament of Champions
For the second year in a row, Archbishop Mitty (Calif.) has won the Nike Tournament of Champions.
In a battle of national top-five programs, the Monarchs blew past Ontario Christian (Calif.) 59-34 on Saturday night in Phoenix behind 25 points from star junior forward McKenna Woliczko.
Mitty led by 15 points at halftime and set the pace in the Golden State showdown. Emma Cook scored 14 points, while Tiera McCarthy added nine.
Tatianna Griffin led the way for Ontario with 12 points. Star sophomore point guard Kaleena Smith finished with 11.
The win for Mitty keeps the elite San Jose program undefeated to start the 2024 season. The No. 3 team in the On3 Composite Rankings, the Monarchs won their first 30 games of last season before losing in the CIF state title game.
The loss for Ontario is its first of the campaign, as the Knights are now 11-1. They rank No. 4 in the nation, right behind Mitty.

Woliczko named tournament MVP
When Archbishop Mitty won the Nike Tournament of Champions last season, it was Woliczko who was named tournament MVP. Saturday featured the exact same outcome, as the elite junior earned MVP honors once again this weekend.
According to MaxPreps, Woliczko is only the second player to earn multiple MVPs in the 27-year history of the event, joining Katie Lou Samuelson, who did so during her time at Santa Ana Mater Dei (Calif.).
Woliczko is one of the most coveted prospects in the 2026 cycle. At the beginning of November, she trimmed her list of top schools down to 10: Ohio State, Vanderbilt, Stanford, USC, South Carolina, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Florida State, Iowa and Texas.
She played for Team USA over the summer and won gold at the U17 Women’s World Cup.
“I want a chance to be successful,” Woliczko told On3’s Talia Goodman. “And I want to go to a school that’s going to set me up for the future – a school that has WNBA experience, Olympic experience, Team USA experience. I want to go to a school that has the possibility of winning a national championship and being the best school in the country.”
