Atascocita defeats Summer Creek 42-39 in contender for Texas high school football game of the year
Perhaps the game of the season in Texas — and maybe the country — took place on Friday night as No. 4 Atascocita defeated top-30 Summer Creek in a 42-39 classic.
Atascocita led 35-7 at halftime, but the Bulldogs were able to erase the deficit at home and even took the lead with three minutes to go. The visiting Eagles responded with a game-winning drive that was capped off by Oklahoma running back commit Tory Blaylock’s third touchdown of the night with just 12 seconds to go.
Blaylock kicked off the festivities for Atascocita with a pair of scores in the first quarter, including an 80-yard scamper that saw the future Sooner break a tackle before getting loose for the first TD of the evening.
Summer Creek entered the game having not allowed a single point in its first four games of the 2024 season. Entering Friday night’s matchup, the Bulldogs had outscored its opponents 215-0. Blaylock has been arguably the best player in the Lone Star State this season and provided a different kind of challenge, however.
The 5-foot-10.5, 195-pounder has been utterly dominant in his senior season. Last week against Houston C.E. King, he rushed for over 200 yards and six touchdowns. His highlight reel has been plentiful this fall, too.

Junior four-star Cardae Mack was once again excellent at quarterback for Atascocita, hurting the Summer Creek defense on the ground and through the air. Projected as a running back at the next level, Mack continues to impress and has offers from 15 Power Four programs, including the likes of Ole Miss, Oregon, USC, Tennessee and Texas A&M.
With the win, the Eagles improved to 6-0 and now have a trio of victories over top-15 teams in Texas. They’ll return home and will host Humble next Friday, Oct. 11. Summer Creek is now 4-1 and will head to Houston to take on C.E. King next week.
