Camping World Stadium to host Legacy Classic in August

It’s become a right of passage for a couple of Central Florida’s top high school football programs to go head-to-head before the season kicks off. This 2025 season will play out no differently compared to year’s past.
Last week, Orlando Jones‘ football announced that they will be taking on regional foe Sanford Seminole in the preseason kickoff that’s been dubbed the ‘Legacy Classic’ at Camping World Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 16th. The game is slated to kick off at 4 p.m. Eastern time between a couple of the 407’s best high school football programs.
In the last two years of the Legacy Classic, Jones has defeated Seminole and Tampa Jesuit, respectively.
When these two teams faced off against each other last season, it was all Fightin’ Tigers as they cruised to a 43-21 rout of the Seminoles back in mid-August. Both teams have proven themselves to being a couple of the state’s best as they’ve reached championship games within the last five years.
Seminole’s most recent visit to an FHSAA title game was back in the 2020 season when then-head coach Eric Lodge, who is now the lead man at Berkeley (South Carolina), led the ‘Noles to a dominant 38-10 victory over Kissimmee Osceola for the Class 8A crown.
For Jones, it was just last season when they reached a state championship game, falling in a 40-31 decision to Class 4A champ Plantation American Heritage.
The window towards getting back to the big dance, however, is nowhere near closed for either squad as they both return a bevy of players from last year’s team in order to make a deep playoff run.

Jones looks to be a contender once again out of Class 4A with the return of 4-star University of Miami (FL) commitment Dereon Coleman, who completed 73 percent of his passes for 3,412 yards, 28 touchdowns and just four interceptions in 2024.
Coleman will be joined once again by 2026 3-star wide receiver Larry Miles, who hauled in 68 passes for 1,204 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. The combination of Coleman-and-Miles is one of the best out of the Sunshine State and the pair could be in line for another huge season through the air.
The Tigers start off the 2025 season up against Winter Park on the road on Aug. 22nd before taking on state powers Orlando Edgewater, Orlando Evans, Lake Wales and Kissimmee Osceola.
Seminole is entering Year 3 under head coach Karl Calhoun, who led the team to a 10-2 mark last fall as the ‘Noles fell in the Class 7A, Region 1 final to state runnerup Lake Mary, 42-3.
