Chaminade-Madonna Prep wins fourth consecutive Florida 1A State Championship
Once again, Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna Prep reigns supreme in the Sunshine State.
On Wednesday night, the Lions torched Clearwater Central Catholic 42-7 to claim their fourth consecutive FHSAA Class 1A State Championship.
Chaminade compiled six turnovers in the win. After leading 14-0 at half, things were blown open in the second half. Penn State wide receiver signee Koby Howard and star junior running back Derrek Cooper each found pay dirt on Wednesday.
The Lions have now appeared in nine consecutive state title games and have won seven of them. This season’s run was not like the others, though.
On Aug. 24, St. John Bosco (Calif.) went to Florida and beat Chaminade 34-27. The next week saw Blanche Ely go on the road and pick up a 35-34 win. In a flash, the Lions were 0-2 with a monster in-state clash against American Heritage on deck.
