Colorado high school football coaches grateful fo attending Denver Broncos practice

The Denver Broncos hosted over 150 Colorado high school football coaches in their recent practice. In addition to connecting with the community that supports them, it’s a great way to absorb knowledge that they can implement in coaching their players. No wonder three of the attendees were grateful for this opportunity to watch NFL-level training.
Eaglecrest High School head coach Jesse German said, “The things that I’ve noticed is all the details and the intricacies that the coaches teach with. They’re very intentional with teaching. What kind of mode the play is, whether it’s tag off, ¾ speed, and I think that’s elite teaching, that’s elite coaching. So, I’m just looking for those little nuggets that we can take away and apply at the high school level as well.”
German could use these lessons to turn Eaglecrest into a winning program. During the 2024 Colorado high school football season, the Raptors finished with a 5-6 record. While they started the season at 5-1, they lost five games to end their campaign. Included in those defeats is their 45-14 downfall against Regis Jesuit in the First Round of the Class 5A playoffs.
Meanwhile, George Washington High School head coach Dwight Swift reacted, “My experience is always the small details. It’s how can I take what the Broncos are doing here and put it alongside my team to impact a winning season and get kids to learn, buy in and be eager to football. It’s amazing to even have this opportunity to not only be at the practice but to just learn and get better.”
Swift led a team that went 3-7 last season. By the second half of their season, the Patriots had three consecutive victories before losing back-to-back games to Thomas Jefferson and Northfield. With the lessons he picked up from the Broncos, Swift is hoping his team will have a better 2025 Colorado high school football season.

Finally, Peyton High School head coach Nathan Trice commented, “I think it’s awesome. We’ve been coming for three years now, and I don’t know of any other teams that do this. I just think it’s very cool that Coach Payton lets us do this and get so close to the action and just see this. It’s not really an experience most people get to do.”
Trice’s team finished the last Colorado high school football season at 6-3. The Panthers started at 5-1 before dropping consecutive games against Buena Vista and Ellicott.
In closing, Broncos head coach Sean Payton commended the high school football coaches in attendance by saying, “It’s important that the single biggest reason I’m sitting here is my high school coach. We appreciate what you do. You’re always welcome here.”
