Playoff time is just a week away in Colorado high school football, and the state rankings have been updated after another weekend of results.

The state’s top eight teams remain the same as last week, but there’s been plenty of other movement elsewhere on the list.

With just a week to go in the regular season, here are the top 25 teams in the state, according to the On3 Massey Ratings.

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

1. Cherry Creek

Previous Rank: No. 1

The Bruins continue to look like the state’s most dominant team, winning their past four games by an average of 43.7 points. Creek will face one more ranked opponent — No. 17 Grandview — before the playoffs begin and they look climb back atop the mountain as state champions.

2. Mountain Vista

Previous Rank: No. 2

Vista obliterated a borderline top-25 Rock Canyon team 70-10 on Friday night, again showing why they’re the biggest threat to Cherry Creek for the Class 5A crown. They’ll end the regular season at No. 18 Castle View in a game the On3 Massey Ratings favors them to win 45-12.

3. Valor Christian

Previous Rank: No. 3

The Eagles routed their second straight winless opponent, beating Fruita Monument 65-14. Now sitting at 8-1, they’ll look for another key victory over Rock Canyon before the playoffs start.

4. Ralston Valley

Previous Rank: No. 4

Coming off their biggest win of the year over Columbine, the Mustangs avoided a letdown and blitzed Denver East 44-18 to move to 8-1. No. 20 Arvada West will be their final challenge of the regular season on Thursday night.

5. Columbine

Previous Rank: No. 5

Columbine rebounded quickly after losing to Ralston Valley, beating an overmatched Denver South squad 49-20. A key top-15 matchup against Denver-area rival Chatfield awaits on Friday.

6. Legend

Previous Rank: No. 6

The Titans have held their last three opponents scoreless, beating Fountain-Fort Carson, Chaparral and Douglas County by a combined 152 points. But the schedule gets a lot tougher this week with a game at No. 8 Regis Jesuit.

7. Pine Creek

Previous Rank: No. 7

After losing two straight top-10 matchups, the Eagles have strung together three consecutive wins. And the biggest of those came over the weekend — a convincing 28-14 victory over Regis Jesuit. They’ll close the regular season at Fountain-Fort Carson on Friday night as four-touchdown favorites.

8. Regis Jesuit

Previous Rank: No. 8

Regis Jesuit came into Friday’s game against Pine Creek as the winners of five straight, but ultimately were dealt a 28-14 defeat by the home squad. There isn’t any rest for the weary with No. 6 Legend coming in this week, though.

9. Arapahoe

Previous Rank: No. 10 (+1)

The Warriors took care of business against a game Cherokee Trail squad to move to 6-3 with a week to go. Rival Eaglecrest — the state’s No. 25 team — will host them this weekend with an upset on their mind.

10. Fairview

Previous Rank: No. 9 (-1)

The Knights’ magical 2024 run continues after squeaking out a 29-26 win over ranked Fossil Ridge on Friday night. The Sabercats gave Fairview everything they could handle, but now all that stands in the way of an undefeated season is 3-5 Rocky Mountain.
