Another terrific weekend of high school football across Colorado is in the books, with updated rankings to reflect the results of the biggest games.

While Cherry Creek remains at No. 1 — as it has all season — there’s a new No. 2 in town, as well as a new top-10 team and three new entrants into the rankings.

Below are the top 25 teams in the state after Week 6, according to the On3 Massey Ratings.

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

1. Cherry Creek

Previous Rank: No. 1
After escaping Pine Creek with a 21-14 win last weekend, the Bruins steamrolled Cherokee Trail 45-0 on Saturday. Up next are back-to-back top-25 matchups with No. 8 Arapahoe and No. 21 Eaglecrest.

2. Mountain Vista

Previous Rank: No. 4 (+2)
The Golden Eagles pulled off one of the more shocking performances of the year, demolishing perennial powerhouse Valor Christian 62-21. Valor was favored by a touchdown going into the game, per the On3 Massey Ratings, but it was Vista who took it to the home team. Now ranked No. 2, they’ll face winless ThunderRidge and Fruita Monument the next two weeks.

3. Columbine

Previous Rank: No. 3
Columbine remains undefeated after a dominant 34-9 win over Denver East, their third consecutive game holding opponents under 10 points. Two big challenges await in the next few weeks with No. 20 Arvada West coming to town and then hosting No. 6 Ralston Valley a week later.

4. Valor Christian

Previous Rank: No. 2 (-2)
In losing to Mountain Vista, the Eagles dropped their first league game in nearly 10 years, dating back to the 2014-15 season. They’ve been among Colorado’s most dominant programs since then. After the loss, they’ll be looking to get back on track Friday night when they travel to face No. 16 Castle View.

5. Legend

Previous Rank: No. 6 (+1)
A week after defeating No. 16 Castle View, the Titans and their defense shut down No. 7 Pine Creek in a sound 24-7 victory. They now sit at 5-1 with three of their final four games being against top-30 teams in the state.

6. Ralston Valley

Previous Rank: No. 5 (-1)
Ralston Valley bounced back from its lone loss of the season — a 34-17 defeat at the hands of Valor Christian — to beat a very good Chatfield team 15-12 in a defensive slugfest. Denver South is up next on the slate before arguably their biggest game of the season against No. 3 Columbine.

7. Pine Creek

Previous Rank: No. 7
The Eagles now sit at .500 after back-to-back top-10 defeats to Cherry Creek and Legend, in which their offense only managed to score a total of 21 points.

8. Arapahoe

Previous Rank: No. 10 (+2)
Arapahoe is riding high off of consecutive top-25 wins over Rock Canyon and Grandview, led by a suffocating defense that has only allowed 10 points per contest in those two games. A monumental test awaits on Thursday against No. 1 Cherry Creek.

9. Fairview

Previous Rank: No. 9
The Knights haven’t allowed a point in four games, outscoring their opponents 223-0 in that span. Up next they’ll welcome 3-3 Fort Collins down to Boulder to see if they can move to 7-0 on the season.

10. Regis Jesuit

Previous Rank: No. 11 (+1)
Regis Jesuit sits at just 3-3, but has played one of the state’s toughest schedules through six weeks. After struggling to a 1-3 start, they’ve now won back-to-back games and will look to make it three in a row against Fountain-Fort Carson.
