DeSoto Football chasing third straight Texas state title with stout schedule on deck

DeSoto High claimed a second consecutive Texas state title last season, running the table en route to a stellar 16-win campaign.

The chase for a three-peat is on. The Eagles will once again look to reign atop the Lone Star State in 2024 — and they’ll have to earn it, as a stacked schedule awaits.

After opening the season on Aug. 31 at home against Creekside (Ga.), DeSoto is set to take on nine in-state programs. Highlights include home showdowns against North Crowley and Duncanville, as well as a three-game road swing to close out the regular season, beginning with a late-October clash at Cedar Hill.

While there may not be an overwhelming number of top-rated recruits on the Eagles’ roster, head coach Claude Mathis once again has an impressive group capable of dominating one of the top high school football states in the nation:
