The hype was real at DeSoto High School on Friday night as the national No. 9 Eagles hosted No. 2 Duncanville in one of Texas’ most heated rivalries.

Ultimately, the visiting Panthers proved to be all too much. Alabama five-star quarterback commit Keelon Russell and Oregon Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver commit Dakorien Moore connected for four touchdowns in the first half, setting the tone for what would finish as a 42-20 win. Russell finished with 427 yards and six TDs. Moore hauled in 231 yards through the air.

Russell was able to evade pressure at will and the DeSoto secondary was routinely beaten by Moore, making for multiple highlight-reel plays that should have both Alabama and Oregon fans looking forward to the future.

Through five games in his senior season, Russell has already thrown for 25 touchdowns. The elite Crimson Tide pledge is the nation’s No. 13 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Moore checks in No. 4 overall and is the top-ranked WR in the nation.

The Panthers now have a pair of nationally-ranked victories this season. They’ll return to home field next Friday to host Lancaster. DeSoto will look to get back on track when they host Mesquite Horn next Friday.

The On3 Massey Ratings — officially used during the BCS era and generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.
