The 2024 Indiana high school football season ended with the crowning of state champions across six classes. Some of the main competitors in those tournaments are among the top 25 teams in the Indiana On3 Composite Team Rankings. Here’s where the best squads ended as they wrapped up their campaigns.

The On3 Composite High School Football Team Ranking is a proprietary algorithm that compiles rankings listed in the public domain by respected High School media and data companies. It includes Massey, Max Preps, Cal Preps, ESPN, and SI, creating the industry’s most comprehensive and geographically balanced High School Team Ranking.

1. Brownsburg

The Bulldogs closed their season by winning their first state championship in 39 years. A goal-line interception sealed the victory over Westfield 22-17 to claim the Class 6A state championship. Kovon Sumpter-Bey was all over the field, finishing with 77 receiving yards, 76 rushing yards, and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Oscar Frye had 161 passing yards and a touchdown for Brownsburg. The Bulldogs closed their season at 13-1, with their only loss coming against Hamilton Southeastern.

2. Lawrence North

The Wildcats’ Indiana high school football season ended with a one-point loss to Brownsburg in the Class 6A regional championships. That result spoiled the efforts of Izayveon Moore, who finished with 94 rushing yards and two touchdowns. University of Indiana-bound Davion Chandler also contributed 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Likewise, Lawrence North’s defense generated seven sacks, led by Daione Lunsford and Phillip Allen with two apiece. Despite those performances, the Wildcats suffered their only loss this season after winning their first 11 games. However, in addition to Chandler, Jerome Smith and Anthony Ludington (Miami, Ohio) are moving to college.

3. Westfield

The Shamrocks fell short to Brownsburg in the Class 6A state championship game. Still, Deacon King had a good fight, with 76 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Likewise, their defense registered five sacks, led by Alex Aramboles with two. Westfield ends the season at 12-2, with both losses coming against the Bulldogs.

4. Center Grove

The Trojans fought hard against Brownsburg in the Class 6A state championship semifinal. However, Jamere Pendleton’s last-minute interception on a Gabe McWilliams throw robbed Center Grove of a victory. Staying in contention with the eventual state champions makes them deserving of this spot in the top ten. Likewise, the Trojans should be proud of reaching the semifinals despite having an 8-4 record before facing the Bulldogs.

5. New Palestine

The Dragons earned their fourth state championship via a dominating victory over East Noble. In that 56-26 victory, Josh Ranes (166 rushing yards, four touchdowns) and Caden Jacobia (163 rushing yards, two TDs) imposed their will over the Knights. On defense, Ranes added 1.5 sacks and a fumble recovery. In addition to the state title, New Palestine closed their Indiana high school football season with a perfect 14-0 record.

6. Warren Central

The Warriors lost to Center Grove in the Class 6A regional championship game. It’s uncharacteristic for Warren Central to generate only 15 points against the Trojans, considering they put up 39 and 48 points in the tournament’s first two rounds. Despite the defeat, Jack Browning deserves special mention for scoring two touchdowns out of 57 rushing yards. Sadly, those scores weren’t enough to prevent Warren Central from ending their season at 10-2.

7. Cathedral

After blanking North Central in the Class 6A sectional semifinals, the Fighting Irish generated only seven points in their loss to Lawrence North. Jalen Bonds scored Cathedral’s lone touchdown out of his 72 rushing yards. This defeat dropped the Indianapolis-based squad to 6-4 for the season. Their other defeats came against Brownsburg, St. Xavier, and Warren Central.

8. Crown Point

The Bulldogs were 12-0 heading into their Class 6A state championship semifinal game against Westfield. Unfortunately, their journey ended when Crown Point tallied only seven points and surrendered 30 to the Shamrocks. Despite that defeat, it was still a successful season for Crown Point, and they haven’t lost at home in two years.

9. Fishers

The Tigers ended their 2024 Indiana high school football season by losing to Westfield in the Class 6A state semifinals. In that 42-28 defeat, JonAnthony Hall finished with 115 receiving yards, while Ryan Thembulembu added two TDs out of 58 rushing yards. Fishers’ final record for 2024 is 7-5, and they’ll lose the Stanford-bound Hall next season.

10. Hamilton Southeastern

The Royals ended their state title hopes when they lost to Fishers in the Class 6A sectional championship, 44-41. Even in defeat, quarterback Chandler Weston deserves recognition for tallying 253 passing yards, 67 rushing yards, and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Azariah Wallace led Hamilton Southeastern’s charge with 166 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Liam Boyd contributed two touchdowns out of 154 receiving yards. The Royals completed their season at 7-4 and will bid farewell to Mason Alexander (Pittsburgh) and Cameron Gorin (Purdue).
