Texas high school basketball has crowned its state champions for the 2024-25 season. Unsurprisingly, six state champions are among the top 25 teams in the On3 Composite Team Rankings. Here are the state’s top squads as another season closes, with the first 11 among the nationwide top 100.

The On3 Composite High School Basketball Team Ranking is a proprietary algorithm that compiles rankings listed in the public domain by respected High School media and data companies. It includes Massey, Max Preps, Cal Preps, ESPN, and SI, creating the industry’s most comprehensive and geographically balanced High School Team Ranking.

1. William J. Brennan

The Bears are the top team in Texas high school basketball after finishing with a 33-3 record. They reached the state semifinals of the Class 6A Division 1 but lost to Bellaire. Despite that loss, they were perfect against opponents within their district and had a 22-game winning streak.

2. Allen

The Eagles lost only twice all season, with the first one coming in overtime against top-ranked Brennan. However, their other defeat came against eventual state champions Duncanville in the Class 6A Division 1 state semifinals.

3. Dynamic Prep

Jermaine O’Neal Jr. and Jaden Toombs paced the Bearcats to a ten-game winning streak to finish the season. They closed their campaign with a victory against AJ Dybantsa and Utah Prep. With their season over, O’Neal and Toombs are off to SMU.

4. Duncanville

The Panthers won the Class 6A Division 1 state championship via a 54-52 nailbiter against Bellaire. Before reaching that stage, Duncanville pulled off an upset against Allen in the semifinal. Those victories settled their final record at 27-7 and finished the season with 11 consecutive victories.

5. Lake Ridge

The fifth-best team in Texas high school basketball compiled a 33-3 record throughout the season. Unfortunately, their season ended when they forfeited their area championship against Eastlake due to an ineligible player. That result stopped the momentum they had, as proven by their 13 straight victories before the forfeit.

6. Guyer

The Wildcats won the Class 6A Division 2 state championship, edging Jordan by the slimmest of leads (48-47). They closed the season with an 11-game winning streak, defeating the likes of College Park, Frenship, and Crowley.

7. Shadow Creek

The Sharks reached the regional finals of the Class 6A Division 2 tournament but lost to Jordan 60-57. They ended their season at 32-3 with a perfect 16-0 record in their district. Shadow Creek had winning streaks of 12 and 16 games in the 2024-25 season.

8. St. Michael’s

The Warriors won the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Class 6A state championship over Dallas Episcopal 50-48. That victory ended their season with a 32-4 record and they closed their campaign on a 13-game winning streak after losing to Lake Norman on the final day of 2024.

9. West Brook

The Bruins closed the 2024-25 Texas high school basketball season as the Class 5A Division 1 state champions. They achieved that feat by defeating Birdville in overtime 63-57. West Brook ended with a 38-2 record, including a perfect 14-0 mark at home.

10. Katy Jordan

The Warriors deserve to be on this list despite losing to Guyer in the Class 6A Division 2 state championship game. They have been dominant all season, as proven by their 12-0 record at home and a 35-4 overall standing. They were also on a ten-game winning streak before that one-point loss to the Wildcats.
