Florida high school football rankings

The Florida high school football rankings have updated following a weekend that was heavily impacted by the effects of Hurricane Milton.

Chaminade-Madonna and St. Thomas Aquinas were able to play over the weekend, with Chaminade-Madonna winning in a 29-22 classic.

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

Below is the updated Florida On3 Massey Ratings top 25, as of Oct. 13.

1. IMG Academy

IMG sat home over the weekend for the first half of consecutive bye weeks. The Ascenders most recently saw action against No. 2 Venice, knocking off the Indians 21-16 two weeks ago. They will sit idle again this week before an Oct. 25 showdown with Illinois No. 1 East St. Louis.

2. Venice (+1)

Venice’s game against Riverview was canceled last week amidst Hurricane Milton. The Indians remain 6-1, their lone loss coming two weeks ago by five points against IMG Academy. Signature wins against No. 23 Tampa Bay Tech, No. 20 Northwestern and No. 13 Cococa highlight the resume. Up next is a Friday road clash at No. 12 Clearwater Central Catholic.

3. Chaminade-Madonna Prep (+3)

Chaminade-Madonna won the game of the week in the Sunshine State with a hard-fought 29-22 win over previously second-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas. The Lions improved to 7-2 on the season with the bulk of its toughest regular season tests out of the way. Up next is Avant Garde on Friday.

4. St. Thomas Aquinas (-2)

St. Thomas Aquinas lost to Chaminade-Madonna over the weekend, its first loss since the opening weekend of the year against Las Vegas Bishop Gorman. The Raiders are heavy favorites against Monarch this week ahead of a tough battle with No. 9 American Heritage on Oct. 25.

5. Miami Central (-1)

Miami Central’s scheduled game against Stranahan was wiped off the slate last week, so the Rockets are still 5-1 on the year. They have some serious momentum heading into this Friday’s game against No. 8 Norland having won back-to-back ranked games against American Heritage and Northwestern.

6. Lakeland (-1)

Lakeland also dealt with a cancellation last week with its scheduled games against Sebring. The Dreadnaughts are undefeated in 2024 with standout wins against No. 5 Miami Central and No. 24 Lake Mary. They have a top-10 offense and top-5 defense — both of which will be back in action this week.

7. Armwood

Armwood was also forced into a cancellation last week. The Hawks are 6-0 on the year with the No. 11 offense and No. 6 defense in Florida. Armwood’s lone ranked win came on Sept. 6 against No. 23 Tampa Bay Tech. No ranked opponents are on the schedule the remainder of the season and the Hawks are an average of a 38-point favorite in their final three games.

8. Norland

9. American Heritage

As we mentioned above, American Heritage will make up its postponed game against Norland on Monday evening. The Patriots are 3-3, but their three losses have come to Milton (No. 2 in Georgia), No. 3 Chaminade-Madonna and No. 5 Miami Central. Those losses came by an average of five points. Following its game against Norland, Heritage will play Archbishop McCarthy and No. 4 St. Thomas Aquinas.

10. Orlando Jones

Jones’ game against Lake Wales was postponed to Oct. 21. In the meantime, the Tigers will get ready to go up against Wekiva this Friday as huge favorites. Their most notable win is a 34-28 victory against top-50 Osceola in mid-September.
