The 2025 Gatorade Player of the Year state winners for softball have already been announced. The Selection Committee chose one player from each state and the District of Columbia based on their athletic excellence, academic achievement, and exemplary character. Out of the state winners, the committee will select one national winner.

For 2025, Coahoma High School (TX) pitcher Hannah Wells is the National Gatorade Player of the Year. The University of Texas commit finished the season with a 0.44 ERA and 258 strikeouts in 127.2 innings pitched. Meanwhile, her 15 shutouts helped the Bulldogs compile a 35-1 record and win the Class 3A Division 2 state championship.

In addition to her sporting achievements, she maintained an “A” average in school and volunteers for non-profit organization Tate’s Place. Wells also offers instruction to youth softball players and participates in community cleanups.
