Georgia 4-star QB commit Ryan Montgomery out for season with ACL injury
Findlay (Ohio) four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery opened the 2024 high school football season on the road against Toledo Central Catholic last Friday.
Four minutes into the game, Montgomery was flipped into the air on a 1-yard scramble and left on the back of a golf cart, according to The Toledo Blade.
Findlay went on to lose the game 54-21, and Montgomery announced on social media today that he will miss the rest of the 2024 season with an ACL injury that requires surgery.
“I am heartbroken to announce I will miss the rest of my Senior football season with my teammates and coaches due to an ACL injury that requires surgery,” Montgomery wrote on his X account. “To my teammates- enjoy every minute! Know that I will do whatever I can coaching wise to assist this season. To my coaches- thanks for everything you have done for me.
“Thanks to the entire Findlay community for all the support. God has a plan for me and I know he is just strengthening my faith. I am going to continue to just trust in the Lord as he will always have my back. I look forward to a full recovery and the next chapter of my life at The University of Georgia. Gods got me.”

Montgomery has been committed to Georgia since April 17, when he chose the Bulldogs over South Carolina and Florida.
He made a splash in the Ohio high school football world last season when he broke a pair of Findlay passing records set by two-time Super Bowl champion Ben Roethlisberger. Montgomery first broke Roethlisberger’s single-game passing record before a month later topping his career passing yard mark.
Montgomery is the nation’s No. 110 overall prospect, No. 9 quarterback and No. 6 recruit from Ohio in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
