Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County enters the 2024 high school football season as the preseason No. 1 team in Georgia and No. 25 team in the nation.

The Packers welcomed the Salt Lake City (Utah) West Panthers to the Peach State to open the campaign. Zero time was wasted, as Colquitt defensive back Jah’boris Fuller promptly took the opening kickoff to the house for a touchdown:

Despite losing multiple Power 4 enrollees from last year’s squad, including Miami WR Ny Carr and Florida State TE Landen Thomas, Colquitt is projected to win all 10 of its regular season contests this fall, according to the On3 Massey Ratings. The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

Georgia HSFB taking center stage this weekend

Five top-100 national matchups are on the slate this weekend — two of which are in the Peach State. Georgia’s schedule is jam-packed with top-25 matchups in-state, including:

No. 30 Buford at No. 62 Milton
Highlighting the opening festivities in Georgia is a battle between two top-10 teams in the state. Buford, the preseason No. 2 team in the state, no longer has Dylan Raiola under center, but the Wolves remain loaded with talent, highlighted by USC linebacker commit Jadon Perlotte, Auburn cornerback commit Devin Wiliams, Tennessee running back pledge Justin Baker and 2026 four-star defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright, among others.

Milton, No. 9 in the state, is far from outgunned, however. Miami quarterback commit Luke Nickel is back to operate under center and will be hunting for elite Florida State wide receiver commit CJ Wiley, Georgia tight end commit Ethan Barbour and Auburn tight end commit Ryan Ghea all evening.
